Why would you not normally use a Vexilar fishing for Lake Trout? Just a thought too, I like to drill another hole for the finder so you don't have to worry about getting wrapped in it.
@MountainStateAngler2 жыл бұрын
So a few reasons why a Vexlar is a better option. 1 it’s real time no delay and picks it up instant which is important in how sneaky lakers can bite. 2. It’s super accurate when it comes to seeing your jig and bottom and the fish. I think if I’m not mistaken having it in the same home will give the most accurate reading but I haven’t put that to test.
@SVMSICE2 жыл бұрын
@@MountainStateAngler oh I must have misunderstood, in your video I thought you said you would normally NOT like to use a Vexilar. By the way I’ve been watching more of your videos and I gotta say that Garmin fish finder you have is just totally awesome!!! I’m so amazed at how far the technology has come in those things. It’s almost like watching a camera. Way cool!
@MountainStateAngler2 жыл бұрын
@@SVMSICE that is correct I don’t often fish for lakers so I do not own a Vexilar, but if I am going for lakers I’d use one. It’s the most accurate, you would still be able to catch on any other fish finder too
@SVMSICE2 жыл бұрын
@@MountainStateAngler oh ok, that makes more sense. I gotta say they are built well too. I was given one as a gift like 20 years ago and it still works great. My friend got one at the same time and recently he got a new one. He wants me to get a new one too, I’m like why, it’s still working 😂. He says well the new one is brighter, I say doesn’t bother me 😂. It’s actually really sentimental to me because it was a gift so I’ll use it till it breaks. I wouldn’t mind getting one of those Garmins you have though but I’m afraid to look at the price of it 🤦🏻♂️

Great tip! Since this video I have got much better about fishing for Lake Trout that was my first giant ever, earlier in the video I had two break off and for this catch I wasn’t going to lose it, landed it ultimately since then I rig up different to get them in much faster with tighter drag! Thanks for watching bud.

Different seasons different depths is how I fish for them, different lakes I fish for them differently. You can tell me your depth it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t know how to fish those depths without bait.
