Yes- many people work hard and save for homes, as they save they can find another better home for the next decade or so over time. Americans find it strange you have to lose a bedroom to gain a walk in closet. In some markets, losing a bedroom can lower the resale value of a home by $100K, or more. Adding a walk in closet adds $0 to the value. They're expected to be there. (Unless it's a historic property ) Can someone explain the purpose of the long entry hall in the £569,000 house ‽ Why isn't it open to the living room?
@Kevin-sm8pn2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the number and size of bedrooms. Also it can always be converted back to a bedroom, especially if there's no to little structural work. Like if all a person did was take out the door and add the shelving then, um..that's a quick fix.

It's great to see two slightly unconventional couples: a man who cooks with a woman who gets the prime home office; and partners with a blended family. And happy outcomes for all.

'Mint' is one thing, in a house beside the seaside next to a lot of white... but with red accents (Ugh!), dark brown wood everywhere and all that 'heavy' brick... that is a LOT to put right. And then (20:53) red carpet and yellow walls!!! "Nooooooo!!!" Just a mish-mash of clashing colours and elements with no clear design vision whatsoever.
@andreaandrea67168 ай бұрын
(35:20)... well, now I'm glad they didn't get the 'piano hall' house. Much of the charm of that house was how it was decorated. Hopefully, the people who DID get it will honour the house with equally thoughtful and beautiful décor. This couple haven't a clue. Naked walls and NOTHING in the garden. That's a shame...
@jennie96 ай бұрын
It sounds like they'd only been in the house for a couple of months when the update was filmed. Not enough time to do much in the garden, especially with 2 little kids to care for, and perhaps they didn't have enough artwork for all the spaces or they want new artwork. Or maybe they prefer naked walls. Nothing wrong with that. Just not to your taste.
@andreaandrea67166 ай бұрын
@@jennie9 You are absolutely right about the garden/children/time, etc. I DO think that they are probably people for whom décor/paintings on walls are not a priority (or not to their taste), in which case, the house they got in the end is a much better house for them. (Leaving the fabulous hallway house to people who will hopefully honour that house with Artwok).
@jennie96 ай бұрын
@@andreaandrea6716 Yeah, that other place is best left to people who love to decorate and make a statement, which doesn't appear to be a priority for these two. As for not putting up artwork right away, when I moved into my place, it took about 6 months for me feel like my furniture and other stuff was in the right place. Since I have lots of artwork and some needs to be kept out of reach of my cats, I wanted to have everything else in place before I determined where the artwork would go. It certainly felt more like home once that was done.
@andreaandrea67166 ай бұрын
@@jennie9 Yes! You can see that Art isn't a priority for them. Oh! Well done, you! I always tell people that putting pictures up is what you do LAST because you want to see where everything else (furniture) goes and then balance the space (and even make it feel extended, or define a space) with the Art work. When I moved into where I am now, I had plastered walls, sanded, then painted them... (exhausting!), then put all the furniture in place... so, putting up the Art work was, for me, dessert! I was SO HAPPY when that was done. Happy every time I looked at all my friends on the walls. (I love hearing that you have lots of Art work. I seriously worry that people are beginning to think that Art is unimportant. They will spend thousands and thousands on electronics... then screw up their noses at Art, saying "It's too expensive." ... ). I really appreciate what you said. Thank you!

@@SDD-vb2rt Yes!!!!!!! I remember, in another episode, being deeply upset with a couple they revisited; the couple had bought this house with a magical garden which they ripped out to install a great expanse of turf/boring green grass. I'm shocked that Poppy would finally buy a 2,000 ft sq terrace house for a family of five. That's not a lot of room. And it's not even an end unit. I'd hate it.
@michaeltutty1540 Жыл бұрын
2,000 square feet is twice the size that I grew up in. 4 people, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath and we were very comfortable. It worked. My parents bought the house as newlyweds. The plan was to stay there for 5 years. In the end, they raised 2 sons there and only sold after they retired, some 45 years on. They were never home to care for a home that was over a century old.
