Thorpes, Wembley (FE) - Unit 5, Fourth Way, Wembley Trading Estate
In 1998 the 210 was taken over by Thorpes from 26th September, they operated from a new site on Wembley Trading Estate using twelve new 10.2m Dart SLF with Pointer 2 bodywork - DLF 29-40.
The C4, SL1/2 and 35 x ‘Mobility bus’ routes were transferred here from the GEC Estate at North Wembley.
The C4 was operated with Metroriders and the SL1/2 by Optare Excels.
In 1999 the MCW Metroriders used on the C4 were replaced by three existing vehicles, F 134 UMD (new to Capital, West Drayton) and G 901 UPP (ex-Sovereign) - both MB709D, along with G 894 XPX (new to Heathrow Airport) but an MB811D - all three had Wadham Stringer bodywork
In 2000 the 70 was taken over from 24th June, another 14 Darts were added - DLF 63-69/71-77.
In 2001 the C4 was replaced by new route 424 from 7th April, this was operated by London General.
In 2002 the SL1/2 were replaced by new routes 205/705 from 31st August, the 205 was operated by Metroline and the 705 by Thorpes.
The 316 was taken over from 12th October adding DLF 82-103 to the fleet.
DLF 104-110 followed to upgrade the 705, these had additional wheelchair spaces and replaced the Optare Excel.
F. E. Thorpe acquired Metropolitan Omnibus on 1st November - this didn’t include Harlesden but it continued as an operating base.
In 2003 all bus operations moved to a new site within the Perivale Industrial Park from 7th June, however, Wembley was retained - not sure what for, by 2012 they had left.
