👍👍👍 I have to disagree about halo-halo coming from kakigori. My dad was a world war II guerilla. His dad my grandfather said that halo-halo pre existed the first wave of Japanese spies sent here in 1915 by Japan. People preserved a lot of surplus foods through immersing them in brown sugar syrup earlier than 1800's. The Spanish elite also brought ice stored in special rooms. They loved making sherbets. Probably a Filipino cook experimented with ice sherbets and the abundance of sugar syrup preserved stuff. Wonder where they stored the sinigang broth? Good thing your tita did not ask the waiter for some sinigang broth!
