My family was genocided 700 years ago in Scotland. I am a descendent of one who escaped. We were exiled from Scotland for 700 years, until now. This song was written 700 years ago. Its about two Scottish prisoners who were locked up in England during the war. One prisoner was set free. The other was executed. The low road, is the one taken by the one who was executed . His spirit arrives back to Scotland before the other prisoner who was set free and takes the high road. Of course, the one who was executed will never meet his true love again. When I hear this song, I think about all my anscestors who would never meet again with their true love due to the genocide. And, I think of all the anscestors who descended over 700 years but were exiled and never had the chance to meet their true love ever in Loch Lomond. Its very heartbreaking. But, I know the spirit of my anscestors took the low road back to Scotland. And, many died in the soil of the Highlands. I have not yet been able to go to Scotland. I am living in the United States. But, this song makes me want to have a true love to go there with. Im also feeling really blessed that the exile has been lifted and hoping I get the opportunity to go. This song haunts my soul.

Beautiful rendition of this song. Never fails to make me emotional. Surpassed in this matter only by the irish song "fields of athenry". That one I never manage to sing to the end..

Obviously I had to watch this...Thank you for the music, vocals & images, all in unisson. As a Scotland lover, I appreciate it at the highest point ! 🙏👍 Indeed, lots of repertoire you can sing beautifully ! (and your picture of that "Highlander" pub looks pretty much like the one we have in the center of Paris, by the way !)

I discovered you when you were reacting to Dimash. I hope you do a lot more reactions. You have a lovely voice and I just love Loch Lomond. My mother used to sing it to us when we were young. There is another that sounded like Bronie Marlin or something like that. Do you know the song?
