Loch Trool To Whitelaggin Bothy 24th Dec 2014

My first introduction to midges was putting the slates on White Laggan in September 1972. We took slates from the Black Laggan ruin across the glen to make up what we needed. During the fortnight of the roof work we stayed at the Backhill of Bush bothy.

Magnificent video Derek! You are wise to test all your gear before going on a longer adventure, and keeping yourself fit as well. On the days when I can't get outside for my exercise I workout on a treadmill at home. What a beautiful area! Sadly people leaving trash in places is no different here. It makes you wonder why they even go to these beautiful locations in the first place. Thank you for taking me along, a real pleasure to watch! Derek, great looking day out in the hills. The bothy was a cracking goal to aim for and looks like an excellent place to stay. Your penny stove looks like it could give the bothy stove a run for its money ;-) The West Highland Way sounds like it will be an adventure and a half :-)

Thanks Gerry, lol yes the penny stove was blazing, think it was the mixture of turpes with Meths, myself & kenny went to the bothy today to clean it up, we took away all the crap & rubbish so role on Hogmanay at the bothy, yes looking forward to WHW, Atb,Derek

Great hike out Derek with fantastic views and shame about the mess at the bothy. Been a few years since I've stayed in one so might have to revisit a few this year when in the highlands. The sat map is a very handy bit of kit too and it's great to know with one glance you know exactly where you are whithout having to fiddle with a map and compass. Enjoyed the trip, all the very best for 2015. Mick.

Just seen your video ,there was a period for about 6years quad bikes came on the scene and most of the mess and destruction was caused by some of these people,just used the bothies as a place to meet up and do damage,luckily they were clamped down on,and it's a lot better for the real people that appreciate the countryside and bothies, I've been going to the bothies for over 50 years and hopefully a few more,keep up the good videos.

Great stuff Derek, It's always good watching video's from places I have already been to and know well. Shame the yahoos have left the bothy in a mess. Only thing me and Billy would take that you didn't Derek would be a jetboil i saw you had a penny stove.I'll get some wild camping done there , hopefully next year.Billy and a mate went to a bothy in Glencoe on Christmas eve.Sat nav good , yeah a lot of hikes there mate.It's great to get out i'm working 17 days/nights in a row so i'll be ready for some out time when its over.I would like to join you for a short section of the WHW even if its just the start for a day hike or an overnighter.Great watch Derek atb Eddie.

Thanks Robert, I find the satmap 12 a great bit of kit, I'm gewtting more used to using it & find that it works well, it's expensive & the 1:25k map for whole of UK was £250 but in the long run it will pay for itself I think, Atb for 2015 to you & family Robert,Atb,Derek
