That she WAS at all is some kind of miracle, a perfect, thus undeserved, gift to humankind. Not only witty & gritty, she was a towering voice & art. Completely integrated, whole. I own this DVD & only regret that Patricia Routledge the Great was chosen to narrate Kaff's voice. Love Routledge but nothing like the warm dark & rich contralto speaking voice that was, in its way, as beautiful as Ferrier's singing voice. How I miss her! And I know her only through recordings, written documents & the loveliest hearsay. Thx for this treat, my dear lochness11 ❤

Listen to her live recording of Gluck at Amsterdam in 1946 and you will realise how good she really was. Fantastic.

Yes, Kath's voice was remarkable------it went straight to the soul of the listener. Unique in all senses of the word. Thankyou for commenting.

Why oh why was she never filmed in a recital or oratorio! We can hear so many recordings which is wonderful, but can never see her beautiful face actually singing them!
