I love this song and I loved singing this song with the great JOE COCKER. That's me...Cydney Wayne Davis, the backup singer to the left of the screen. I toured with Joe for about five years in the early ninety's. This song is pure rock and soul.....pure Joe Cocker. I had to use everything I learned in church to sing this song. It has a gospel edge to it. The other singer is Maxine Sharp and Phil Grande is playing a mean guitar solo. The whole band is great and Joe is a true star.

Joe did not write his own songs, if so very rarely. He covered other artists songs putting his unique twist on them. But he had such an iconic strong unique voice, and ALWAYS had a great band backing him! His With A Little Help From My Friends at Woodstock was iconic, one of best live performances ever, & so moving for that 60's generation..timeless!

When I listen to When the Night Comes, I hear a voice that is reaching from his soul. He knows time is waning, being closer to death than youth, but that's what makes him belt it out. Every ounce of Joe Cocker was purely from deep experiences, some we don't have privy to. He brought a song to its knees by pushing every note from within. Thank you God for putting this man on earth, even if only a little while, we all got to share him. Now he is there for someone.

Oooh man I’m still young for this kind of music but damnnnn!! Powerful forever! The voice is unbelievable!!
There is no one that has as much soul and pure earthy emotion as The FABULOUS Joe Cocker! Been a fan since 1969, grew up with him and I want his voice to be the one that I hear when I leave too!

Beautiful, I was thinking the same thing. There is a documentary on Netflix about him. I saw it last week and have watched it 3 times. I am so glad that someone had the sense to record his tours. There is an awesome part where they set up the stage in Germany by the wall that split that country after the war with Germany. I got goosebumps when I saw it. I won't say more. You have to see it. I will be 69 this May and still loving his music. I am so glad that he met his soul mate and that things got better for him towards the end. God love you and God love Joe Cocker.

If you could bottle the energy released in this video , you could power the world for a year! Man what artists they are ! Every member of this ensemble puts their heart and entire soul into this performance !

Why Joe hasn't won all music awards I will never know. His voice is so a God given gift that no one can touch it. These so called tribute bands are painful to sit trough so it's Joe or no one. So, Joe play LA as often and as much as possible. My tribe will be there and I will be to enjoy your voice and gaze on your absolute beauty
