Yes it would. Rock solid. I'm feel like the low area would flood when the river gets high but yea...if that lottery ticket pays off ;)

If the area is over 100 years old, you could have it declared historical monument. It would be one heck of a project and you would probably get state local and federal funding to restore it.

It would take hundred of thousands to restore it. I would love to do it tho. I had a friend who's family owned a historical home and they received money for renovations but it was never enough compared to real world cost. They couldn't keep up with it and eventually had to sell. A local contractor bought it and renovated it. It has tunnels under it that lead to a fountain in the front yard from where it was a stop on the underground railroad supposedly. We also had some VERY creepy encounters in there. I never saw anything but my friend said she did and I never felt comfortable there. Likely haunted. Pretty neat.
