I just got picked up to fly the F-15C (in real life) and this video does a way better job explaining things than any IP has so far. Well done.

+Matt Bryant Congrats dude, that is a dream for me, but im only 17 so by the time I would reach a position like that, their probably wont be any F-15's around to fly :(

Congrats but that bird is getting older and soon the F-22 and F-35 will replace it. Sorry had to nerd out there 🤓

I heard the Same Thing, its because the Airlines need pilots, and the #1 place to get professional, qualified Aviators is the military, so they offer lucrative contracts and salaries and all the sudden the Military finds itself out of pilots, i kinda like the situation because i hope to fly something in the military some day and if theirs shortages then it gives me more choices right

Even thought this is for LOCK-ON it's STILL very relevant today as I don't think anything has changed in FC3 as far as the F-15 radar that is!! I have Flanker 2.5, LO and FC3 and they all still get ample amount of my time, plus with these tutorial videos have been a GODSEND!! Not only are they informational, Rich "Ironhand" Sorochak has a way of explaining things that make it easy to understand for all levels!! Thank you!!

Could anybody enlighten me: One thing I don't understand is what happens starting at 8:40. He just got lit by the F4, and is currently scanning a volume from 0 to 34. If I understand correctly, he shifts the scan volume down (at 8:50), which will allow him to see aircrafts that might have been flying below his currently scanned radar volume. That allows him to now see the F4 on his radar. But what was the point of moving the TDC closer to the bottom of the screen just before that volume shift ?
@HowlerBikeVlogs10 жыл бұрын
imma try to answer you, he moves the TDC to have an indication of the upper & lower altitudes that the radar is scanning, he was scanning from 0 to 34 at a range of 40nm, the F4 was at 20nm and thus probably below the radar cone because if he had not shifted the scan volume down the lower scan altitude could've been something like 11,000ft. you cann see that before he shifts the scan volume, the lower carrot on the left shifts up just a tiny little bit (8:48), so my guess is that the f4 was flying at less than 800ft or so.

how did you get the target selecter thingy on the radar move in such small increments mine moves like and inch when I press the period, semi-colon, comma, and forward slash buttons?
@zillajratomicray10 жыл бұрын
I'm a bit confused, can someone please answer these questions?. You said that when you move the target designator up, you're not changing the altitude. So what are you changing? You also said that it's a must to keep the radar moving. Why not just set it at maximum range so it scans pretty much everywhere in front of you?
@xiaphus910 жыл бұрын
You're not changing the altitude, you're changing how far your radar is looking. Notice how when he raises or lowers the TD, the range increases from 20 NMi to 40Nmi and so on. That's how far in front from your aircraft your radar will scan. When your radar's range is pushed to its limits, it takes a lot longer for it to read potential targets because it now takes longer to fully scan the area. It can operate much more effectively by telling it to look in roughly specific areas. Otherwise, you're telling it to look for a target 120 NMi ahead, when in reality that potential bandit is only 20 NMi ahead.

do you have a navigation tutorial? I cant get past the first mission i have no idea how to follow the waypoints
@kainhall9 жыл бұрын
Good Game Guys Show switch into nav mode... might have to do it 2 or 3 times to get into the right mode..... you are in the right mode when you can change waypoints (look at the control binding is game....should be like cycle waypoints) so, nav mode, change waypoint, waypoit isnt changing, nav mode button again, cycle waypoint.... ok ive got waypoint 1 now, press the cycle key till you get the point you want, and boom your done. however.... theirs a glitch with the HUD.... the little bar on the top of the hud sometimes will make you do a 270 degree turn when only a 90 degree turn was needed.... its a bug.... jsut look down at your HSI/compass for the little dot waypoint marker thing.
@sherrattpemberton60899 жыл бұрын
Good Game Guys Show To switch to nav mode press 1 on the keyboard. from there you will be able to cycle through waypoints. the | on the HUD shows the direction to the current set waypoint. to be heading in the right direction you want it to line this up with nose of the aircraft on the HUD. On the bottom right of the HUD the single number shows the current waypoint you are heading to 1, 2, 3 ect and under that is the time to the waypoint in minutes. for more general navigation the set of numbers across the top of the HUD are the degrees of a compass, with the ^ underneath showing your heading. for example: 06 07 08 | | | | | | | | | | | ^ my direction would be 070 degrees 06 07 08 | | | | | | | | | | | ^ or my direction would be 065 degrees. when someone says "turn 113 degrees" this is what they are referring to. There's not much more to it then that.
