I just bought my first BFS reel, the KastKing, and your information was very helpful.

I've found that really thin diameter round braid has worked very well for me too. Just switched to Sufix Nanobraid and its been treating me well. First braid I tried was Sufix 832 and still loved it. Next one to try is the Sufix 131.

Thanks for your video! Have you ever tried following braid to fluoro leader knot: take fluoro and with lighter carefully melt small "knob" to the end of a fluoro line. Then take braid and simply make uni knot on to the fluoro so that after tightening it sits right next to the knob at the end of fluoro. I have used 8 turns with 0,08 PE line I have found it to be simple and reliably and easy to visually inspect so it has tightened proper way 🙂 Runs quite well through line guides when using light diameter fluoro.

Just starting bfs fishing have a couple rods and reels about to spool up with 10lb braid sufix 832 is this gonna work well for perch fishing?

good info, thank you! I have an aldebaran bfs xg on my way home from abroad (they are hard to find in Sweden now). I want to run with braid, but am thinking of spool axle knot. how do you attach the braid? seen some tips on how to tie directly into a port in the spool?
@Watercraftfishingtv4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed the vid. I actually use a small bit of tape at the beginning to attach the first bit of the braid and then wind on over the top of that. The sticker that holds the new line onto its spool is usually perfect or I will cut off half a price tag and use that! Just something to hold it down as you wind on over the top. I've never had any issues with it! Hope that makes sense. If you can msg me on Instagram I can send you a pic of what I mean! 👊🙌

Really informative video, Adam. I’m a big fan of braid and gone for 13lb Daiwa J braid 8 strand. If I’m reading you right, you just attach the braid to the spool with the line keeper sticker on the spool rather than an arbor knot? Just waiting for my Alderbaran to arrive 😀

BFS scorpion and 1.8 -7g speedstyle arrived over the last few weeks. Always wanted to use multipliers for my lure fishing, but I've always preferred lighter crankbaits and soft plastics, so not been an option. Only a week until I can get out on the river (great ouse) - I know there are some big stripes in there!
@mattsercombe63924 жыл бұрын
So had a chance to fish now. Quite a learning curve, had quite a few fish and backlashes. My speedstyle is not the ul 6'4", do you think it makes much difference? It is harder to toss the smaller neds

Been looking for an aldebaran nowhere in this country has them (not even todber). I have a fishband gh100 atm which is a Chinese shimano copy even down to the braking system that performs well & easily casts the finesse shroomz. Would I see the benefits of importing the real thing from japan or stick with what I’ve got?
@Watercraftfishingtv4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark! Great news that you are giving BFS a go mate!! How are you finding the learning curve? Yea the Aldebarans are like rocking horse poo at the moment due to Covid but I think that will change. You can also import one straight from Japan if you can find one. And there are loads of other BFS options out there like the Scorpion BFS or the Various Diawas and Abus all in varied price points. In terms of difference between yours and the Alde it will be night and day. The parts used in the Alde and the precision of engineering is obviously far higher and you have the backing of a company like Shimano if you need to get it serviced or if you have any issues with the reel (that's how I see it anyway) but it's not necessary as long as you're having fun casting the GH100 and it sounds like it's doing the buisness for you and as long as it isn't broken it's completely up to you if you upgrade. BFS is like all things in fishing addictive and fun and you can do and use whatever makes you happy and puts fish on the bank. The one thing I would say about a reel like the GH100 is it's great that it can cast low weights for a very low price but as we all know the quality of the drag, the feel in the hand and the fish playing ability are all other important factors in a reel and in my experience if you go down in price you lose out on quality somewhere even of you can't see it. If that makes sense. But having said all that it really is all personal preference mate!! 👊🙌 Having said that all I can say for sure is If you get an Alde you will love it! 😂 What a ramble that is! Hope you are well mate! 👊

Perch Finder TV thanks for your reply. Food for thought. I got into drop shot a few years back & have had fish to over 2lb & some cracking chub then one day I was watching stuff on KZbin & one of your videos popped up (the name drew me in instantly) so it really is your fault for getting me into it lol. Watched it enjoyed it so started looking at zman stuff & the kit people were using. I commented on one of the occasional anglers vids & he offered to sell me his tsuonori rod n the reel cheap & cheerful I know but gotta start somewhere. I’ve used it twice at todber blanked first time & had one just over 2lb second trip on a finesse bugz. Still gotta lot to learn but loving it & when this is all over I’m gonna travel & see if I can catch a zander which I’ve never seen let alone caught cos they’re not in Somerset. Will look at other reels but if your gonna upgrade just as well get the best. I recommend you search on KZbin for the reel cos it gets rave reviews for something that costs around $50 but I agree there’s no come back if it breaks. I’ll probably keep the reel for now & maybe upgrade the rod. Your on the todber website so I know which one it is. Thanks again for the advice stay safe n I don’t think it’ll be to long before we’re back out again. I got unfinished business at todber with the fish & all the zman stuff they got

Hi friend. I use aldebaran bfs and expride bfs rod. play on landbase. rod rating 6-12lb. I use bait 6 grams or less. I want to use braid and flurocarbon as shockleader. can you give your opinion on what size braid and shockleader should be used. without affecting the swimming style of the bait

Have you ever used wire leaders , Cahira nitinol in 6lb or 12 test. ?
@Watercraftfishingtv4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin. Yes I have and do for my pike fishing. I don't tend to use a wire trace when fishing on the deck for perch. I only do when I'm fishing for perch with a swim bait or a lure with trebles. Otherwise I use a Fluro leader for perch.

If I cast 5 gm to 8gm Lure on my BFS setup, can I get away without using a leader? I mean can I directly tie my main line to the lure. Great video anyways. Thank you
@dip30ful3 жыл бұрын
Yes u can. Usualy get more bites in cleaner waters if u add on a mono leader. Easiest way to do leader if u don't want to deal with line to line knots. U can just tie a small split ring or snap to the mainline then tie 1 foot or so of leader to the split ring or snap as well. Cant real it up through the guide so limited to a short leader but 1 foot is all that's really needed.

Hi Adam Very informative video. Well explained👍 Unfortunately didn't learn anything myself, but a great video for beginners and experienced anglers alike. Do you ever use top water baits like poppers, frogs rats etc. You probably have and I don't remember😏 If not would you consider it? Let's hope we're on the bank soon🤞 Stay safe 🎣😷🎣😷🎣😷🎣

Thanks Gavin! Totally get it thanks for watching and it's defo aimed at the BC newbies who are at the start of the journey! I do use top waters and frogs but I haven't had the channel going long enough to do any vids yet. I will 100% be making a vid when we get out at somepoint. Also planning some wild trout, bass and wrasse stuff at some point as well! 🤞 We are out soon. Thanks again for watching mate! 👊🙌

Not taking reel apart in 2 years is nothing to be happy about, gears just will wear out and you will start to feel it and then take it apart, clean, lube but it won't fix the damages already done.
@Watercraftfishingtv4 жыл бұрын
Hi mate. I've since had it serviced and it was absolutely fine and still runs smooth as silk. But thanks for your concern. My point is it has lasted much longer in a fantastic state than cheaper alternatives. Tight lines and wet nets to you 👊🙌
