I know that's all the saxes combined but I've seen what a master of the bari can do. Ever see Leo P from lucky chops? I recommend it. Anyways, you could get to that sound with the Bari, but it wouldn't be as accurate compared to the tenor or alto

Not too high for trombone 1, I'm playing a piece where trombone 3 is that high. You can imagine how high trombone 1 is. Good thing I'm not first, lol.

My High School jazz band had been working on trying to incorporate some Big Band music into our set. We tried some Duke and some Basie. Both sounded great, and as the Principle (1st) Trombone player. I can tell you that one of the Basie songs had me reaching a high C on the treble clef. It is possible, just don't ask me to do it at a quiet dynamic. Big Band songs are lots of fun though. If you can convince the director to move up to that grade level. Some can be rather hesitant...especially when you got to practice in order to get yourself to that point.

Ha I'm just finishing 7th (been playing for two years now) and I can easily hit the high A. The funny part is, most material in grade 3 will have the 1st trumpets going up to B.

I'm in 11th grade, we usually play Grade 4 and up music, but this song is something we've almost came across. The range on the first trumpet will sometimes go up to a HIGH D (that's right kids, above the staff D). 1st trumpet is always crazy, yet fun in any Jazz band!
