I’m 73 and the contents of the suitcase (with the exception of the 1939 World’s Fair) and the baby stuff we’re quite familiar from my childhood. Very cool to see those old familiar things, not seen on the high end vintage and antique ceramics videos. Thanks! I really enjoyed that!

Every time you open another bag I feel as if we are getting a another glimpse into the lives of this couple. The rattle, potty training seat and lambs were probably from when their children were young. They are reminiscent of things from the 1950’s or perhaps a bit earlier. Can’t wait for the next unbagging!

These things are definitely from at least 59. I was born in California and all of these baby items were part of my childhood. Also I’d be very interested in buying the (coin purse ??) item marked Chile if it will be for sale. My parents were Chilean. Thanks for sharing these bag reveals, some amazing finds saved from the landfill 👏🏼🙌🏼💙

Was looking on line after your finds, as I'm sure many do, the Heinz 57 rattle is apparently from the 80's, asking prices around $15. The pink & blues ones are from the earlier decade of 1960's. The swan seat could be as early as the 1940's & 1950's. Seen a pink one, with original box for $150. Very fun finds!

Renee, Years ago I had a program from the 1939 World's Fair in New York which was my parents. Both the 1939 and 1964 Fairs were held in Flushing Meadows, Queens, N.Y. I visited the 1964 fair 3 or 4 times, I forget now, but it was awesome. We'll never see anything like those again, it's a different world now(sigh) Thanks for the cute stuff and the memories. Cheers, Rik Spector

I think the little leather case is filled with shot glasses usually at a Irish funeral someone brings the glasses and a bottle to toast the loved one who just died at the cemetery graveside. We did that for my sons Grandfather he was 101 years old and Irish. " To a life lived well". Very cool find.
@lindawhitaker43144 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you got into the makeup case no matter how you had to do it! Of all things, I was most impressed by the hotel memorabilia. I grew up very poor and only saw pictures of the great hotels. Then I would read about them in old books. I could only imagine the grace and dignity of the service the hotels offered. Really neat treasure! And the lambs. Sad to think the lady might not have grand babies or great grands that would treasure them. Feeling quite nostalgic today, probably because we haven’t seen the sun in months! So gloomy here......

@larryboysen59114 жыл бұрын
Your goose or swan looks old...even has the urine guard! The string of lambs and spacers would hang across baby's crib...and the little one could count lambs... and off the sleep! Years ago, I did sell my folks early 50's luggage set dad's and mom's suitcases and the matching over night case...which is what you broke into. A lady who had a small antique shop purchased them...got $250...at the time not bad.

Death of a suit case or survival of it's contents? That is now answered! The little tumblers from Germany were nice. Are the a silver plate? I remember seeing strings of those rattle animals growing up over cribs, playpens and strollers. I also remember seeing the rattles like the Heinz one, but don't remember name on them, thought Gerber? Gerber spoons as well. Anyways, great bag! See you next time.

I imagine you tried, but those vintage lock buckles usually slide to the side to flip the top clip. If that fails, a straightened paper clip or two, jiggled in the lock, usually work to pop it open...oh, and I think the Batik (bah-teek) kit is very cool! I love your treasure find videos!!

Don't worry about the suitcase. Like you said, it lived a good life. You know that for everyone "yelling" about opening it, there are others saying, "do whatever you need to do to get into it " Had you not opened it, it probably would've ended up with a nasty smell after a while.
