Seeing that cheese box brought back many memories for me. My grandfather used cheese boxes to organize his work room. Every single one was labeled and he had them in alphabetical order. He stores nuts, bolts, screws, fuses and so much more in those boxes. He attached little handles on the end and made shelves with them stacked. He was an extremely organized man. He even hung his hand tools on the wall and outlined them so you knew exactly where the tool was replaced and he knew from one glance if something was missing. He was an electrical inspector in NYC and had “handyman skills”. When we moved him from Queens to Poughkeepsie in 1982 my father took many of the cheese boxes but my father did not inherit all of my grandfather’s organizational skills. Lol. He used the boxes and kept the “supplies” but did not have the same amount of organizational set up. But those cheese boxes are sturdy and reusing them was very “frugal” for the 1930/1940 time period. Its a shame that so much cardboard is used for packaging these days!!
@PaperandMoose2 жыл бұрын
Your grandfather sounds like he was a fun & organized man! I love going to estate sales or onsite auctions & seeing how people re-used items for such practical purposes. One of my favorites is old coffee cans for storing nails, screws, bolts, etc. But adding handles to cheese boxes and making them into little shelves 🥰

Just FYI, the Confederacy did not have a flag. The 2 flags up for consideration were predominantly white. The "Stars and Bars" was Robert E Lee's Army of Northern Virginia's battlefield flag. I didn't know this until recently. If you went to West Point you would be informed that Robert E Lee was considered to be the, or one of the, smartest battlefield Generals. Lincoln wanted him to command the Union Army. He said he was going home to Virginia. Most of the Generals went to West Point together. Americans do not know their history. I didn't either until genealogy made it personal. We are a young country, if you start with the European invasion of English, Spanish to these shores. We are having growing pains still. I grew up in the 60s and to me, the tension was much,much worse. If you grew up in the UK or Europe you would have a massive amount of history to remember. They all know their history too. This is Native American History Month. Stay safe. You are just a hoot to watch. Your enthusiasm is real.

I love those rubber stamps! OMG, I bought most of those toys in the 80s brand new for my kids, lol! Gosh, my little one loved that Fisher Price Plane. My older son loved the Masters of the Universe and had the figures. Also the little drum with the xylophone on the top was one of the toys my younger one had. I bought the Dukes of Hazzard Barn Buster set for my older son. It is weird seeing them as vintage. I feel like time sped up on me all of a sudden lol. Nice finds. Thank you for sharing.

I bought a lot of He-Man last year from a guy for $80 it seemed like a lot (cause I know nothing about MOTU figures) but wanted surprise Chris so the boys could have fun playing together. Once we started unboxing there were probably close to 30 figures in there including King Randor and Snake Mountain. Bonus was he also threw a bag of vintage Star Wars figures in with the lot. Needless to say it was an awesome deal and the boys have been having fun! Great instinct on the lot 😀

Speaking of ' quitting your job '.. my last day at work is this Thursday. More time to buy storage units to clean out and just get some ' stuff ' done this Holiday... and get Items listed on Ebay and Facebook. However, the Storage Unit I bought 2 weeks ago had LOTS of tools. HUGE score at the flea market! Will email you the total... I was shocked myself.

Great video - thank you! You can always flat iron (no steam) the break dancing poster using a paper towel as a barrier between iron and poster. Little by little, you can lightly Elmer's glue it to repair each seam tear. I've done that myself, in similar circumstances - it works out great. OK, when will your video appear showing you after you've learned to "moonwalk"? I'm sure we all cannot wait for that video - hope it's soon!!!

Looks like a good auction…guns , military, ammo, sounds like my type of auction! The iron round things with holes in the center were Quoits, game sort of like Horse shoes. They actually sell pretty well. The club master eyeglasses might have been good You did well with the stamps, they would have originally been in a wooden case held so the handles are up so you can see what they are. Used in stores to make signage. …kind of neato. We used to go to a lot of weekday auctions, miss it but I’m doing my best to not buy to much We did good at the flea market today, got some good knives and a vintage red 5 panel hunting hat
@PaperandMoose3 жыл бұрын
My area, I'm all too familiar with quoits. I would not want to play with the quoits they had there, cause my skills at the game are pretty bad... someone would have gotten a whole lot of hurt to their foot with that landing on it! We have the rubber quoits, much safer haha
