Shout buses are two-way communications with the monitor engineers/productions/stage crew on stage.

Whoever is presenting this is a terrible teacher... flipping through so many things way too fast that it leaves you saying "how did he just do that?" all the time. A good teacher never assumes the student is as well versed in the operation as the teacher may be.
