As you say, money talks, which is why it would never happen. The bidders for Soto are teams with owners that are actually serious about winning. The Mariners might pay for a couple of bobble-head promo nights.

Marlins fan here. After this horrendous season, fans are howling, but I don't get it. The Marlins have two WS titles in less than 30 years. Wouldn't more than half of MLB trade records? If not, why, if winning championships is the stared goal of teams and fans? Or is it really about being "competitive" and then ultimately losing?
