Being from Columbus, Ohio, my ears pricked open at the city's mention. This is what I googled about the first violin: • Jackson Guldan sound-hole label. The Jackson Guldan Co. of Columbus, Ohio was a manufacturer of stringed musical instruments, operating in the first half of the 20th Century. Most notably, the company produced violins, fiddles, and violas as its primary product. Secondly, it made acoustic guitars, most carrying the brand name Adjustomatic. Thirdly, it maintained a toy department that, among other products, made toy violins for children.

Your first violin is in ruff condition but possibly could be restored. The amber block is resin . You put it on the hair or strings, that attached to the bow or “wand”. It makes the hair sticky to grab the strings when you play. Look inside and if there’s a sound peg that’s upright it’s in the right place if it’s rattling around your fiddle is shot.
@colleennikstenas49215 жыл бұрын
Block of rosin for the bow. Helps the strings both glide and grab better for better sound. Machine with plastic bowl like topand spike inside- I think is a cotton candy spinner.

The amber block is rosin for a bow. Look for a maker on the fattest part of the bow. Could be very valuable !! Definitely research name on the labels inside of the violins, some makers are valuable no matter if they have damage.

"No strings" usually isn't too much of an issue with guitars, as most people put new strings on as soon as they buy one, generally strings that they have become accustomed to.
@09sethman5 жыл бұрын
and you dont store violins or bass guitars with the strings on because that will bend the wooden neck ,..if you store for a long time either take strings off or very loose

I loved the boxes. I dont pick and choose which of your videos to watch. I watch them all. Maybe not the case for everyone or new watchers of storage unit buyers so you need to do stand out in some way. I feel you genuinely pick things that stand out in the story in someway. Part of being a content creator is sparking interst. Why not use the boxes as a thumbnail. Super cool. Peace, still waiting for you to dig out the 901 stands!!
@Papermoon3105 жыл бұрын
Don’t discount the instruments without checking the out. They can be fixed up and if they are made by a quality business, they could be worth money. They usually store them without the strings, so it doesn’t stress out the necks of the violins and guitar.

@tommywilliamson1525 жыл бұрын
Wirh the violins that you found the block you found in the first case was more than likely a rosin block to condition the strings. The rod is called a bow. Tge Jackson-Gulden Co that made the first violin was only in operation from 1915 - 1971 with it's decline coming due to thwir prices being undercut by Germzn manufacturers.

I refurbish instruments..Each violin is worth 150.00$ as is, classical spanish student guitar= 200.00 as is..taking the strings off and storing them with them off is the correct way to do it.
@LockerNuts5 жыл бұрын
Where do you think is the best place to sell such instruments?
@dankalisz32355 жыл бұрын
That depends entirely if there are some luthiers in your area.. String the guitar with gut strings/ classical types and go for ebay ..The violins are problematic...they need restoration and they are worth 150.00 bucks yet need 300-500$ restoration costs to make them in to 150.00 buck violins
