Lockheed Martin' Sniper pod is the most widely deployed targeting system for fixed-wing aircraft in use by the U.S. Air Force, and is the targeting system of choice for 16 international air forces. With a possible US Navy requirement in the near future for next-generation target pods, Lockheed Martin feels it has the right system to answer current and future needs.

@Rhys Goodman has no relation to whether the player mudhen can get it. In order to model it for player use it's more than just the external 3D model, it's also modeling the specific pod performance, and the interface (which there arent any non-redacted images/video of it). The mudhen interface is also different than that of the Viper.

In the June deployment of 7 F-35s to Mountain Home AFB, the F-35 flew 88 of 88 planned sorties on-time, destroyed 15 of 16 ground targets, and was 8-0 in air-to-air against F-15Es. The F-15s were equipped with AESA radar and the Sniper Advance Targeting Pod. Apparently the F-35 is "stealthy" against advanced thermal imaging systems too.

The Savage yea a fox 2 and 3 can be fired on it but for fox two you need to be close and for fox 3 it makes it harder for it to lock because f-35 is stealth against radar and thats exactly what sams and planes use to get a shooting solution for the fox 3-1 so makes it for shorter maximum range for the missiles even tho they could make it out farther

It is less stealthy against thermal than radar though. The resolution of the Sniper isn't going to help you if the f35 is 40 miles away and your main radar doesn't pick him up. You don't know where to look whereas he likely has the F15's number. F35 shows up just fine on thermal. Go look at some airshow videos of F35 and F22 captured in IR. Those engines glow like any other plane.

The Eurofighter Typhoon's PIRATE IRST can detect subsonic fighters from 50 km from front and 90 km from rear - the larger value being the consequence of directly observing the engine exhaust, with an even greater increase being possible if the target uses afterburners. The range at which a target can be sufficiently confidently identified to decide on weapon release is significantly inferior to the detection range - manufacturers have claimed it is about 65% of detection range. The F-35 has extensive IR reduction technologies, so reduce that 65% of 50km from the front and 90 km from the rear by 40%, and you end up with a really short range for firing your missile. To wit, 15 kms from the front and 25 kms from the rear.

Russian targeting systems can bearly detect a tank 6nm (10km) away (without possibility to tell if its tank or maybe truck). Look out for systems like Shkval and Merkurij, the latter one can see up to 3km (less than 2nm) in night... They had to buy French Damocles TGP in order to get something that is not gonna be like 30+ years behind.
