That is insane....I dont think I could handle Flynn that high. My mind would be blown away. Great video!!

I have seen very seasoned and experienced aviators get very emotional watching this clip. It also inspired me to find out that there is a 72,500 feet on Microsoft FSX when on attempt 4 I got the ALPHASIM Lockheed U-2S to that level. It is extremely hard to stay within the required parameters to get that high and the key is small corrections at all times!

May at the Edge of Space, where May was flown to the edge of space (70,000 ft) in a U.S. Air Force Lockheed U-2 spy plane. Highlights of the footage from the training for the flight, and the flight itself was used in James May on the Moon, but was shown fully in this programme..This made him one of the highest flying persons, along with the pilot, at that time, after the crew of the International Space Station.. -wikipedia

The pilot needs the cars to help him land the plane. The U-2 is very tough to land because its wings generate so much lift. The pilot has to "stall" the aircraft in order to land it. The guys in the cars give the pilot his altitude above the runway, and help him stay lined up with the runway's center line.

Agreed, you learn something new everyday. There are a lot of different peacekeeping forces in the affected region, Australia is simply an example of one of the smaller forces (which may I add have around 1550 troops serving in the region). Now the real question is, why do you think the U2 kills people. If that's the case, you are indeed, a true source of enlightenment.

Guys and Girls, if you didnt read it Ill say it again: Really, first read the discription before you watch the video. It makes it much more pleasureble to watch :) LOL! The pilot says in a very calm voice: "I knew this was going to happen...I need to scratch me face"

Perfect vision is overrated in the quality of a pilot. Its really only used by the armed services as a filter to narrow down the number of candidates. The same thing goes for color blindness.

I dont know how much that trip cost they took the guy, but once I bet i would sell all of my stuff to got up there, even if I would die homeless, relatively young and on the streets cause of freezing, i wouldnt care...

@CaptainMetalwing11 жыл бұрын
Bull. Any major color problems like how some people see green as pink would be a problem, but color deficiency which is what most people have wouldn't have the slightest impact, not enough to be life or death. The perfect requirements are their to save money on weeding out candidates.
