Lockout Shock after Fox34 Installation on Spark

Final tweaks of Fox Factory 34 2022 installation, which includes cable and lockout, as well as mud fender from Syncros (poor design, if you ask me). But as there are no alternatives - what shall we do.
Regardless, lockout surprised me a lot - we will see how it behaves moving onwards.

Yes, I totally agree that it is better than zip ties, but that first installation was a hell for some reason. However, I noticed this: www.bike-discount.de/en/syncros-trail-2-mudfender-fox-34-from-my-2022 Which might be a better option :)

@@tom10crafted Tell me about the install, I have put the little dampening rubber on the wrong side while installing, then the fender rattled and I did not find out until re-tightening every bolt on the bike :D Found loose rotor and a suspension bolt, so at least I had that :D Just double check, because linked is the non-SC version. I have this one a normal 34, it is probably wider, but maybe it could fit. All solutions I saw for SC were like you did, with

​@@b4d17 I somewhat was HOPING (yeah, bad call) that if it is 34 - it is 34 :| Regardless, what I did was cut the corners of the fender a bit, that it won't got rubber seal getting stuck at the bottom - and from that moment it was OK

I'm surprised that you had to put an adapter for the brake calipers. On mine I don't have to, strange. The weight is 👌

What calipers we are talking here,, rotors and which fork? Fox 34 is for 160mm by default as far as I know

34 Stepcast is 160, normal 34 is 180mm out of the box mount.

@tom10crafted , Yes, without any adapter. I'm looking at the fork as we speak. it doesn't make sense with your fork. RockShox sid is also minimum 180mm on the front. What do we missing here? 🤔 😆

The Syncros fender albeit it says it's compatible for Stepcast Fox 34 it's for Fox 34 that are older than 2022. The Fox fork after 2022 have a rounded arch for the lowers. Hence the fender is not compatible with the newer model forks. I am hoping Syncros makes a newer version that fits soon.

@tom10crafted totally doesn't fit. The fender doesn't even clear the stanchions. Hopefully Syncros updates their fender soon!

160 rotors and max 180 with adapter, my son's bike already had an adapter on the rockshox fork, so used it. Max tire clearance is 2.5in, I used a flexible zip tie rockshox mudguard and looks bad and not sure how it will go as haven't tested it yet, weight comes at 1,441gm after cutting tube by 7 or 8cm(without axle though) my son keeps telling me he can't feel anything after doing jumps, when I took it for a short spin it absolutely masked out all bumps. Btw it was 875gm lighter than the rockshox fork it replaced, surprised the lockout functioned good for you, most report needing to adjust before it works properly and that is what happened to our one, luckily there was a youtube video to show the solution. I feel as though the firm setting feels exactly like the open setting, is that what you experience too?

Curious - what adjustment you are talking about here when it comes to lockout? It is just a matter of tightening the cable, isn't it?

Yeah, you do that but then the lockout function just doesn't work, it works at the lever and works at the fork's end, but it just doesn't do locking out. So you have to make adjustments to make it work. After you make the fix, everything looks to be moving exactly the same as before the adjustments but now the lockout function operates as it should.

Best surprise is when you have wheels with wider-diameter and width hubs (without protruding endcaps) when these will not fit because of so narrow legs. Had the fork installed and immediately sold it as Roval SL hub didnt fit... P.S. which rear shock are you using? I had replaced the basic FOX (non NUDE) which was working as expected with sensible middle mode for new Rock Shox NUDE RLC3 and I can not tell between mid mode and open mode... fells just like open mode. Lockout is super firm.

But literally, you been not able to install between the wheel?! sometimes it feels a bit tight while adding wheel with dtswiss 240 hubs, but it's nothing too much to stretch. I have Nude shock, with kashima - and it has different tune than original nude - different shims are there

@@tom10crafted the hub was in firm contact with bottom hollow part of lower leg at non brake side 😕 Hubs are old boost roval traverse sl. New Roval controls with DT 350/240 have protruding endcaps so it is ok
