Awesome, lol! We have a similar lock here in the UK but it has an octagonal post and much less clearance around the edge, so you can't get a 'standard' tubular pick in at all.

To the lock picking lawyer Just received my huk kit, older style like yours with the tension bar, my question is my 7.8 and 7.5 seem to not fit in the keyway/groove. Have u ever seen the tooling of these picks being off before? If I press any harder into the lock I'm going to either damage the pick, needles, or score the hell out of it, I believe when they made my kit, it maybe out of spec, like the machining or tooling is off, idk I'm stuck lol
@jusmejohnson4 жыл бұрын
Just wondering if you where able to get that 7.8 to work? I ordered the set to open up my (deceased) grandfather's tool box and I still can't open it. I've checked with local locksmiths...no help. I'm lost and REALLY want to keep this for my son. Any suggestions anyone???
@pouncerminned8632 жыл бұрын
@@jusmejohnson little late.. are you sure the lock has a need for tension bar? If it has 2 notches, you need that tension rod installed. If it only has one notch on lock then you can’t use tension rod s as no u need to remove it

I simply cant make it work. I ordered the exact set that you have. I push and twist as you demonstrated on a couple of tubular locks and I get nothing. Of course, I’m no LPL, but you’d think I’d get lucky at least once.

I've got a set of those picks and have been rather unsuccessful with them. I'll have to try your method.
@BoredLockpicker8 жыл бұрын
+technosasquatchfilms I've found that using them on locks that have a cam attached to the back with any kind of pressure on it makes them really difficult to use. Easier to spp it one time and turn it just a tad where it isn't locked then you can impression it and open it the rest of the way.
@DavidShepheard5 ай бұрын
The octagonal inner security feature sounds like it might be a lie to trick customers into feeling more secure. Is there any chance you could get the informaion from the special key or your impressioning tool to get a duplicate key made from a normal blank, so that you can test your theory. If normal keys work, then the key control is an illusion that you should probably call out. But it is possible that the normal key looks like it would work, but there is something in the design that stops it working.

I have the Goso impressioning set. I wouldn't have those they look better to me. Just in case I'm not the lucky winner what brand are they?
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
This set is "HUK" brand. I have the Goso set as well... they never come out for two reasons. First, the sizing of the Goso tips is a tad off; the HUK set fits into more keyways more smoothly. Second, and just as importantly, these work much, much better... no comparison IMO. FWIW, I have a Klom tool also. The HUK works better than that one also.

It seems that the detente is only spring loaded. So, could it be possible to design a shim for this kind of locks ? Some kind of hook made of thin sheet metal.
@Fanta....3 жыл бұрын
it depends on the lock. some are spring loaded, but only when the key is in and turned. the Abloy plug latch doesn't have any angle at the end. so the pin goes well inside the hole and is unable to be shimmed.

let's say you put in an Abloy core. is the lock just as good (physically attack wise) as an Abloy branded lock ?
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
Maybe as good as some Abloy locks. I don't have that many Abloy locks, so it's hard for me to generalize. I have a 362 (a truly bada$$ lock) in which the protec core is set deeply into the lock. I'd have to imagine that adds an extra element of protection from physical attacks. But for practical/normal purposes, I'd imagine the security provided by the Cobra/Abloy combination is pretty darned good.

the lock cylinder has its own retracting pin. the grub screw is just to prevent the whole lock housing from falling out once the proper key is used and the shackle is retracted, it doesn't provide security.
