I just have to personally thank you for this content. Granted I’m a bit of a learning freak, but over the last 2-3 months while working full time I’ve managed to pick up locksport as a hobby and pick not only a duo because of your videos, but mul-t-lock jr’s (got an interactive on the way and looking for a cheap mt5), some cheaper disc detainer locks, Yales/Federals/Abus and things with security pins, etc. It seems pretty much any lock I’ve found I can watch your videos (and maybe a few other tubers - shout out to new my fav Artichoke2000) and get the important info about how they work. It’s amazing how much knowledge you have.You’ve made a new hobby all the more exciting so thank you!!!

Cool !! I just got a old crusty one in the mail today without a key. I soaked it up in kerosene over night and blew it out with compressed air and gave it a drip of 3in1 oil... it must be a older duo, the housing is identical but the plate and core on the bottom is offset and has a drain hole on one side.. Wish me luck 😁

I know this is an older video, but it was instrumental in helping me to pick open my newly acquired Chicago Duo today. It took a while for me to get it open but I knew what to do and what to expect. Thank you.

Was the Duo considered to be very pick-resistant, back in the 1960s and 70s? After an attempted break-in to my NYC apartment, around 1966 (they almost got in, but were scared away, I think, as the knob came off in my hand, and I reached through the hole to open the door!), a locksmith installed a Duo cylinder in a new lock, and it never happened again. The lock was still fine when I left in 1971.

I've seen some wafer locks with a back wafer that the key doesn't interact with, that is the locking wafer and it holds the core in, a lock pick can depress said wafer and pull the core out, I discovered it by accident when I was picking a cabinet lock for a friend.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
LOL... been there. I think every picker discovers that by accident. There is no such wafer in this lock.

I have one similar to this one, and I’m sure it’s a duo. Is the lock damaged if some wafers rattle when you shake the lock itself?

@nathans57732 жыл бұрын
Did you ever figure out how do remove the cylinder? It looks like it might have a spring activated retaining wafer. The lock may need to be in the unlocked position to lift the retaining wafer.
@shawnrung57624 жыл бұрын
Question - how does the "master" keyed version of this lock work? Many locker locks use these and have a master key that opens all the locks. I am confident that there is a "reverse" or opposite keyway that has a different level for the wards that makes the master key operate? Thanks for the great details!
