Locks #2, I bought an ABLOY 330 Padlock, The Truth, Good locks cost more than $10.00-$20.00

This video explains which lock/key I bought after learning more about locks and "easy to pick" key ways on cheap locks. I feel the ABLOY 300 is a good balance between affordable and hard for knuckleheads to pick.
When I say use a good lock to help prevent knuckleheads like me from picking your lock, I do not mean that I would ever pick a lock with the intention of breaking in to something which is not mine. I am not a thief.
I mean buy a good lock so some knucklehead who has only been picking locks for 2 days, someone with no talent for picking lock can not easily pick your lock. Make it hard on them. Buy a good lock.
I am surprised how easy cheap MASTER locks are to pick. If you only want to spend $5-$15.00 on your lock you might as well secure the hasp with a shoestring. Watch my first video and see how any dumbhead with lock picking tools can pick a MASTER lock too easily.
If your stuff is worth locking up, then it is worth paying $50-$100 for a great quality lock. Of course you can pay a lot more, but at that point the thieves (IF they are really motivated ) will find another weak point in your security.
I suggest buying a boring looking (like the ABLOY 330) lock (no sense getting a too fancy looking lock) (or it may actually attract attention) great quality lock to slow down thieves.
Find the balance between effectiveness and a price you can afford. I don't think spending $200.00 on a lock is a good idea... it could actually advertise you have really good stuff you are locking up. Of course I could be wrong and there is a good case for a $500.00 padlock...but if you buy that make sure the rest of the enclosed structure is equally as secure.
Mainly what you want is hard to pick lock so if they can not pick it and they break in cutting/destroying the lock at least you will be able to tell.
With easy to pick locks someone could be coming and going, slowly stealing your stuff and you may not even realize it.
The bottom line is if someone wants to steal your stuff they are going to break in and steal it when you are not there and watching... your objective is to make it harder for them. Slow them down. Hopefully they will move on to easy pickings.
Make your stuff look hard and time consuming to break in to.
Make someone elses stuff look easier to break in to than yours.
Make someone elses car look easier to steal than yours.
I think the ABLOY 300 is a good balance. I will mention I am not affiliated with ABLOY in any way, they do not pay me in any way... no one pays me in any way (except compliments) for me to make and post videos.
I make and post videos to help people out and share information I would like to have known long ago.
PS
I will mention how damned disappointed I am with MASTER lock company. It is a damned shame they did not make a better effort to become what companies like ABLOY, ABUS, ASSA and MEDECO became.
MASTER lock company was in the lock game in the 1800s. THEY WERE THERE EARLY!!! They should have stayed in front of the pack, but instead they became an embarrassment. MASTER LOCK company may have a profitable business model but their products are crap.
MASTER LOCK company lies to people when they claim good locks can cost $10-20.... but they sell a lot of them... and anyone with an (easy to buy) $10.00 lock picking set can pick a crappy MASTER lock.
I dare MASTER lock (or anyone) to be mad at me for posting the truth about their crappy locks. It would be funny to see them not want make better locks but then get mad if/when someone shows/proves how ineffective their lock are.
FIX YOURSELF MASTER LOCK!!! MAKE BETTER LOCKS!! DO BETTER!!!

Thats aGood lock for locking stuff up thats already in your garage like your tool box or what not. But i personally wouldn't use it for exterior security. I'm a truck driver and I'm considering getting the abloy 340 swp. I was going to buy the 350 swp but decided against it because of our trailers sometimes have hasps that are not flush and fitting that beefy shackle through everytime would be too difficult or not possible at all. So the 340 would have to do. As its thick enough to give people a little extra time to think about their life choices or get caught in the act.

I think the idea is have a hard to pick lock without having a super duper expensive looking lock that attracts too much attention. If someone wants in something they are getting in, one way or another. If they can not pick the lock they will pick the wall or hinges or roof or floor. I think this lock is that

That is Abloy's Sentry keyway you have. Not unpickable but very difficult for an expert. Their Protec2 keyway is literally unpickable. You will know Protec2 keys because they have a single ball bearing in their key.

Buy a good lock. ABUS and Abloy make great locks. Locks at the hardware store won’t secure anything. I use an ABUS 83/45 with an 888 cylinder. lockitt.com/abus-8345-padlock.html

Thank you for the good comment. People need to look into the facts of cheap locks... but most do not. All we can do is tell them... advise them... and then... who knows? But indeed, It is that simple, BUY A GOOD LOCK or just use a shoelace to close the hasp... because shoelaces work as good as a Master locks. I dont sell locks, or make locks or get any money from locks... but I lock stuff up and I was surprised when I learned what absolutely embarrassing junk a lot of lock companies proudly sell. It seems like it would not cost much more to produce locks which any novice lock picker can open almost by accident. It is brain washing.... long long term brain washing on people (LIKE ME, I THOUGHT LIKE THAT!). We were trained to think that locks should cost 10 bucks and any ole lock will work to lock up one's valuables.. which could be worth 100s or Thousands. One needs to find the correct balance of how much to spend on the lock and how much to spend of the design and construction of the container to be locked. There is no sense having a $10,000 lock on a $20,000 secured door which is installed on a wood frame building... thieves will ignore lock and door and cut and go through the wood. Its an analogy... can be applied to all lock things. Dont use a steel lock on a plastic box. One must have good over all balanced security... and make it look good.... but not too good (we dont want people wondering what is being locked up) Make it look and act just good enough so thieves move on to an easier target. That is the real goal.... to dissuade amateurs... to dissuade passer-byers and "tryers" ... have a lock they will hard time picking, a sturdy chain... and let them look over and choose to go after the door locked with a cheap lock like Master locks. That is all we can do .... because truth be told, if someone wants in or wants to steal out stuff, they will find a way... be it hardcore lock breaking stuff..... or a gun pointed to ones head and a command to "open it". All the lock does is help. And it is stupid to buy a $10.00 lock. The sad part? NO ONE I know personally and have told this story to has taken the advice. They bought a Master lock and said I was paranoid.... SO... who knows... BUT thank you for the comment.

I paid about that much for a 330 a few weeks ago and was more than happy. I just found another new 330 on eBay for £10 + £4.80 p&p. Don't think I've ever clicked Buy It Now as fast in my life.

I agree. I think it is a balance between money and security along with not "showing off" (or motivatiing a curious thief) with $200 expensive looking lock. I have now purchased more of these 330s with the basic key and I think it works fine. I think it is a nice balance. Hopefully it slows down or dissuades the low skilled/low motivated thief... and... there is no stopping a high skilled highly motivated thief. A great lock can be bypassed a "weaker link".

That also depends whether the thief KNOWS it's a good quality padlock. I have two Abloy 240's (which are Steel bodied) on our shipping container, one of which is half hidden behind the central box unit, plus a 241 Enforcer - no messing about! I have a 'Whyte' bike (prst1) in there, plus a very good Honda mower which would cost around £1,200 to replace, plus other stuff. The containers are in a secure area, which you need an electronic fob to gain entry. Btw, it's ABLOY.

Also, if someone says 'just use an angle grinder', they'd take a long time, these padlocks are bomb proof! Plus, do you know how much NOISE an angle grinder would make!??
