Love to see you visiting my neck of the woods. 49 yrs young now. I lived in NYC all my life and always had a bike by my side. When my friends and i were younger, we basically did all five boros 5 days a week. It's been a while since I rode my bike, which needs some maintenance hasn't been touched in over a year. I saw you go through some iconic places. I know you didn't have much time, but you missed great places like riverside , Van cortlandt bike trail trough yonkers, Riverdale and also Further Up , East River Drive ... the ride to Orchard Beach and City Island is wonderful. And a lot more areas. But thanks for coming out here. This city is hectic to ride, but you won't experience anything like it anywhere else

I was in NYC in 2013 with my mum and we rented bikes as well. Back then I wasn't cycling at home at all so it was pretty much a crackpot idea... 🤐 We stayed in Long Island City close to Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, cycled over it, went up to 97th-ish street, crossed over to Central Park, went down to Columbus Circle, then towards the Hudson River, all the way down to Battery Park and close to the East River back to the Queensboro Bridge. All in all about 35 km (21 miles in weird measurement 😜), but we were there in late April so we had a good amount of daylight and we weren't in a hurry to get to places. Apart from the part at the Hudson River there were pretty much no bike lanes so it's good to see protected-ish bike lanes, even though two-way lanes on only one side of one-way streets don't make sense to me.
