Back in the 90s when they closed it going around the Point east...that was some great fiahing in the old channel.

Agree with the absence of a channel. Why do they keep wanting to make it go west? My long-term memory had it coming out and turning a bit east to run down the Oak Island/Long Beach shore before heading out to sea. The shrimp boats used it. The Blue Water Princess used it. Lots of boats used it. All the shoaling in the ICW ought to be telling them something. Maybe it guarantees their jobs. In the past I used it all the time. Now, I make the long run to Southport. It would be great to have a wave & current expert weigh in on this nonsense.

When I was a kid, it always turned east and ran in front of Oak Island before turning south. It was much better then, before they started dredging it to run straight south.
