Who Is Best In Final Fantasy VII (Overflow Glitch Included)

After two years of making Tier Lists I've applied my experience to the very first list I ever created. Here is the revised Who Is Best in Final Fantasy VII!

I'd say Cloud Barret and Cid are top 3. Cid gets 3x AP growth with his Scimitar. Not to mention, incredibly powerful limit breaks. Cloud gets insanely powerful limit breaks and a 3X AP Growth weapon as well. Barret not only gets good limit breaks, but is incredibly good because many of his weapons are long ranged he can be placed back row and do same damage in back row with attacks while taking less damage from enemy attacks.

Yuffie beats Barret as number 3 for me because of their ultimate weapons. Barret's needs a lot of mastered materia to be powerful, and I'm not much of a magic or summon user in FF7. In fact the only magic I use is cure, enemy skills do the rest of the work. The Conformer is a flawless weapon, and Yuffie comes with her own powerful level 3 Limit Break, and can stay in the back row.

EVERY time I play through this game (and god knows I've played through it at lot since my 90s childhood) I always say I'm going to use different characters but I always end up going with Cloud, Yuffie and Cid/Barret. I like taking down the Weapons at the end of the game and I just can't make it work with any other line-up 😅 The others just have such godawful limit breaks in comparison. Not for the rest of the game I mean but I would hate having to mess around with Tifa's slots (that sounded rude) while trying to keep on top of Emerald weapon 🤣

Honestly, it really doesn't matter who is better than others as materia is the most important thing when playing the game. Some are slightly better than others, but none are really unplayable. Anyway, Aerith should be at least Mid tier in my opinion. Even ignoring her stats, her Limits are all stellar. If she was usable past Disc 1 she would honestly break a lot of battles. Being able to Full Heal, become invincible or both would break so much of the game. I'm also not sure I would include the Overflow glitch for an official ranking. Maybe mention it and include something like "of course, if you can take advantage of this glitch" but it's so much of a time investment for both characters that I can't help but think you could have beat the game several times by the time you can use either or both. For the most part both are better evaluated without this one niche strategy.

Red 13 being mid is disappointing because he is my favorite character/ However, speaking objectively its a fair assessment. Tifa as kid I never understood the hype but the remake made her so fun. I have a new respect for her. I normally use Red,Cloud and cid/Yuffie to beat the original game

For practical purposes, putting Vincent in God tier is kind of questionable. His limit isn't very useful. They just boost his defense and you can't justify losing control of him because you can outdamage his limit with w-magic comet2. But he does have the highest natural mp besides aeris so he's still useful as a caster. Cait sith has high natural hp and magic and is the best caster through the midgame because you will probably weigh him down with materia to level it and that tanks hp. It's hard to get other characters above 2k without hp plus materia if you give them a lot of magic materia. It's pointless to compare luck because all characters have low luck...even at level 99 and you have to source farm to really affect it. Otherwise, the list is much better than your original list.

From what I understand you can stack his limit break Howling Moon. If he is immune to berserk you keep control of him and can have him get his limit break again, and the damage buffs stack up. Not really worth it as not many enemies on disc 1 are so challenging.

How could you make Aerith bottom of the bottom but Harle top of the top? She's not in the party half the game and that's in new game plus, redundant in half the time she is and a detriment to the main character in the other half.

Harle when you can use her in new game plus is not even that good because of Lenna and Riddl. She ranked lower than every other temporary party member despite being in the party longer than every other temporary party member and being more useful than them. He also said in order to break the game you need to level up materia... well guess who has the best weapons for materia in disc one? If you are going to factor in glitches how about how Aerith is the easiest person to do the HP/MP overflow? If you keep putting enough magic or summon materia on a person that minus 5 or 10 percent HP will decrease your HP till it's at 10...you add one more and it's 9999. Also not only does she have the highest magic stat in the game her rods add a stat multiplier. She can two shot every boss easily.

Honnestly I think basing a tier list on a glitch is pretty stupid, that being said the only difference would be Vincent would go straight in the Low Tier, Barret is still god tier.

@@adswers6900 Why would it be hypocritical? Hypocrisy is practicing something that is inconsistent with what you preach. The new tier list doesn't invalidate the old tier list. Conditional tier lists are not uncommon or inherently hypocritical. It's just "If you consider X condition, this is how everything will rank. If you don't, then consult a tier list that lacks X condition."

I didn’t realize you’d updated your list! Okay, so, let’s make this quick then: Astoundingly, God Tier is home to Barret and Cait Sith. Thanks to Overflows for Barret, Angermax and Source Farming, Barret is easy. Thanks to Slot Manipulation and the Death Flag exploit, Cait Sith can RELIABLY use his limit to cause instant death to nearly ALL enemies in the game. All it takes is some fast fingers and good reflexes, and you can force Cait Sith’s game over 100% of the time. This makes him easily the best character in the game, as all it takes to kill anyone is to build your limit. High Tier is Vincent, Yuffie and Cloud. Omnislash, Counter and Mime are amazingly effective on Cloud, Yuffie is always solid as a long-range powerhouse and Vincent can overflow, although you might have better luck in NOT trying for that, since it’s so time consuming to accomplish. Mid Tier is Tifa and Cid. Tifa is always good, but never exceptional. Just fine compared to other characters. Cid’s triple growth weapon is a joke, and you don’t need it. You’d be better off with anyone else holding a 4 slot double growth weapon, since they’ll actually grow AP faster than he will (2x4=8 slots, 3x2=6 slots). High wind is good, but he doesn’t get to break the top tier thanks to a single good move, especially when other characters do what he does, but better. Low Tier is Aerith and Nanaki. Aerith has powerful limit breaks, including Great Gospel, but she’s hampered by only having seven slots (and breaking cutscenes if you smuggle her forward anyway…). Nanaki is pretty well terrible after a while; he doesn’t really do anything special to pick him over literally anyone else.

@@locloudanerpg Oof I'll need some time to get a proper one together since I've never played the game in a super in-depth way that you would need for your videos but as a casual gamer (and what I did as a kid when I first played) it's hard to go wrong with Dart, Rose or Haschel, and whoever happens to be your green guy at the time. I always liked Meru and Kongol but I haven't really explored them much and also only got Kongols Dragoon Spirit on a completion run. However I just finished playing Chrono Trigger again and am looking for a new game to revisit so maybe Legend of Dragoon is the one!

Tifa can't be in the God tier because you can miss some (or even all) of her attacks with her limit break because of the chance to select a miss slot.

you tier list sucks. 1. cids triple growth weapon has only 2 slots which makes it worse for exp farming than most double growth weapons, everybody has . his double growth weapon "javelin" is better since it has 5 than the usual only 4 slots. still its no real arguement. 2. overflow can be reached by every character . overflow is such a painful to set up glitch, that its not relevant to the game at all unless you simply want to mess around with the game. 3. tifa is not only good for speedrunning. she is the first who can hit multiple enemies multiple times with her limits. attack stat is the most usefull overall, since most of the time, normal attacks are gonna be used, deathblow ( added attack ) and doublecut/4xcut are a thing. and magic can be used by anybody anyways. tifa is practically the only broken character ( besides caith sith with his limit) which is usefull in a normal playthrough. the only downside is that the game never explains how the masterfist or powersoul work.

I do love Tifa and I always say I'm going to use her but I never do. Her limits piss me off because either a) I try to do it honestly and miss half or more of them or b) I try to slow down the slots and while I'm doing that I can't focus on what else is happening in the battle. I do appreciate her power in some of her weapons and I was thrilled the first time she deathblowed Materia Keeper with powersoul and death sentence but honestly with enemy skills and a bit of grinding the game isn't really challenging enough to warrant going to the trouble. And then with her ultimate weapon she goes from annoying limit break to no limit break whatsoever (unless you want her damage to suck). I always like to have two men and one woman in my team and Yuffie just completely blows her (and every other character) out of the water with Conformer so she gets the spot.

I actually don't mind him, I like the character and he plays well enough, and I think his sacrifice scene is strangely emotional. It's just his battle model reminds me of the giant turkey that Mr Bean got stuck on his head and I cannot get past that 🤣
