It looks to be a fantastic collectors piece indeed. Thanks for putting the unboxing up as well as the rolling road first run as well as it will reassure a few folks in the Club to maybe invest in one, knowing our postal service today and the rough handling some things can get. Keep safe and keep warm. All the best with your Locomotion No.1. Cheers!

I must admit if I hadn't already opened it carefully with 2 hands and seen the internal packaging, I would not have shaken it open with one hand as I did in the video

Mine is faulty. It jerks, stops and only runs properly with a squeak at full power. Not exactly the 15mph real version speed. It's better forwards but terrible in reverse, so mine is going back.

Many thanks. You seem to have been fortunate in getting one where the motion seems smooth. I need to get mine out of the box and stop being lazy

You are running an actual production run loco. My two videos where of the prototype at different stages. At the Key Model World's MK GETS exhibition, the brown (wooden) areas of the loco looked like self-coloured plastic, not paint. Can you confirm what the wooden finish is please ?

Put your camera/phone on a tripod 😊. You can't unpackage an item one handed. I found that out on my Midland Pullman carriages unpacking video.

I vest in a TRIPOD to hold camera and enable you to use TWO hands

This looks like a great model. Well done Hornby. Is there a speaker in the tender?
@cwmpencwrwmodelrailway18013 күн бұрын
Yes there is - however there is not enough room for an HM7000 decoder so until Hornby release a smaller HM7000 you are looking at 3rd party options. Oh a and the instructions state the speaker is fixed in place, but mine came loose as I lifted up the tank - easily fixed so not a major issue

Is this the one from the NRM?

I think the real loco is at the NRM at Shildon (but is due to return to Darlington for the anniversary next year

This model appears very fragile and I doubt if it would last very long before the valve gear gives up the ghost My suggestion get a copy and put it behind glass Hornby do not build reliable locos any more
