Michael when you were on those 2 x 4s with the ladder and gunning - well I just kept thinking its going to be okay because he is showing the video right. I don't think that was OSHA approved! LOL! That house is going to be stunning, the creek, the trees, the setting! I am in love! Hope to stay there one day! Congratulations! My husband was a carpenter just like Jerry. I LOVE Cedar!! Love the smell, love the color of the wood, love that it makes me think of home in the foothills of Arkansas. Growing up we always went out in the woods around our house and cut a cedar tree for our Christmas tree! So those smells always bring back awesome memories of simpler happy times. 🏡♥️🌲The cabin is going to be awesome! So happy for you guys! 🙏🏻

What was the length of the rafters for this? I'm liking the shed style I have a 28ft wide span which would need to be a mono truss ijoist or rafter style. We have a 30snow load in michigan where I am. I like the idea of using 28ft long 2x12s if I can meet code with my calculations I can at smaller on center 12 or 16.

How do you Iike using that Zip system? I see you have it red and green. I love the idea of sealed envelope that it offers. What's your experience with it thus far?
@loduke3905 Жыл бұрын
@@meUtragic Hubers zip is amazing, I have it on my build as well, with prices for lumber being what they were it was a no-brainer. On my build I used zip as the sheathing then used double sided attic foil wrapped around the entire building w the proper tape, after that I used furring strips then added my siding. By using the "reflectix" in addition to the furring strips it gave me a proper air gap for a radiant barrier. This is blocking 99% of radiant heat and emissivity from sipping into the building. Fun fact, the radiant foil they have out on the market is an all in one that is a radiant barrier (if used properly) as well as a vapor barrier that is permeable. I recently started to replace my front tall walls cedar lap siding w LP smart sides panels like I have on the other 3 sides. The zip system was in the EXACT same condition as the day I installed it a year and half ago, that's despite my horrible job of siding it as an impatient noob. My build is the same design just different dimensions, mine is a 16x20 Mono pitch front wall is 13' 6" back wall is 9' with a 20ft x 8ft lean to add on in the back of it. I am going to soon be installing a 20ft x 6ft lean to on the front that will be a screened in porch and my solar panels will be on the roof of it. Can't say enough good things about Hubers products, I am slightly biased as my step mother worked for them for almost 20 years starting w them as a small start up. They spend alot of money and time researching, developing but they hire contractors who work in the field to give them insight and help design new products. Great company, they treat their employees really well and offer great benefits to their team, we can use more companies that treat their people that way but also care about what products they're putting on the markets.
