Dan, I realize that this may be a bit rude to ask, however in order to establish if there is a possibility for bias in the review: did you purchase this jacket yourself or was it gifted by the company?

Looks like it would do well under a waxed canvas or tin cloth type shell. I can't speak towards this one in particular but I've had similar highly compressible jackets and without a protective shell, they are VERY prone to punctures, tears, heat (either getting crisp patches or actually melting) and sparks. If you can keep those circumstances in mind, they really are an excellent mid layer that can be packed down surprisingly small.

I'm seeing a bunch of complaints about the outer shell not being able to withstand punctures and sparks from fires. Can anyone comment on the warmth of the jacket? Either the warmth from the materials or design of it? How about the way the jacket dries out after getting wet or soaked?

Its great for going to the movies. They do rip& tear& melt easily. Nice pillow option. Trendy undercoat for the yuppy that buys into the club/tribe/group. It says im in with the ltwt cuddle. Its synthetic. Im more comfortable in natural fibers cotton cashmere. Id regift it to an aged person.

Nice coat. Glad you could yours for Winter 2018 in PA. I was told in their pre-order promo that I would not be able to get mine for 6 months (April 2019). Not much call for an insulated jacket during Spring, Summer, and early Fall in Northern AZ. Also, black and blue are not my favorite colors for anything except funerals. Enjoy your coat and please let us know what you think after a season of use. I do generally like Outdoor Vitals gear and have many items from them.

Dan, this jacket looks like it would be a super comfortable jacket to wear! You should see if they'd do a drawing giveaway. Many people live on fixed incomes & can't afford to buy extra costly things like this jacket.

That's expensive fuel for the fire... if you're gonna use plastic, might as well get some military ecw layers or polar tech stuff. Cheaper and very warm

Was and am disappointed in my three (3) overrated Patagonia jackets. Hold many up to sun ☀️ and view what little insulation is captured in a few pieces of fabric. Maybe $20.00 of bulk material with a zipper that might cost more than the rest Hope to see this in person as the marketplace needs improved options-

nice jacket...will work when wet and has a tougher nylon outershell than most higher priced down jackets...I guess I'll see in the near future if it is as good as YT'rs say...got in at the $99 price point!

The Outdoor Vitals LoftTEK jacket is not warm & the design is poor. Every seam connecting the baffles alows airflow. This airflow is what allows cool / cold air to penetrate through the jacket. The seams also allow body heat to escape. I purchased the 2022 version of this jacket & Outdoor Vitals has still not addressed the issues since it's original release for the Kick Start.

This is one of the few items you have reviewed that has many affordable options. You can find the same style by 5 different brands and all around the same price. First vid I didn't find useful and ive been a fan forever now. Cheers!
