Love these old flume rides. Unfortunately most of them are being retired. There was an old one at Kings Island that was very similar to the Log Jammer at Kennywood. Thanks for capturing this great video while it was still around.

I'm SO sad they closed it! I miss riding this with my mom when I was little. She didn't like riding the super high speed rides and always said she didn't want to ride this because it would get us wet but one day I convinced her to go on it with me and we had the best time ever! She was hooked ever since. I can't believe they got rid of it. 😭

That’s an awesome memory! A lot of people hold sentimental feeling towards this one so It was so disappointing when they announced it was closing. Apparently the cost of the ride to repair was more than what it was worth. It was deteriorating and running into issues so that’s why the ended up getting rid of it. The hope is that someday it will return, but the memories will always be there!

That’s sadly true. Definitely the longest line I’ve seen in a while. On a really hot day, there was a solid line but you could usually walk up to the high bridge.

Yeah if it was a regular day, I would have done the same thing as you, but because It was the last day, I was willing to wait and we waited a while, i would say at least an hour and half. Mainly because it was shut down for a bit but it was worth it for one last ride. Thanks for watching!!!

I was at Kennywood for my first time two days ago, so I never got to ride it. R.I.P. Log Jammer. They should revive it with some of the space that the park owns with nothing on it. They can put a coaster in with a modern variation of this ride weaving in and out of it.

Well I heard a rumor that the Log Jammer’s cost to fix was more than the ride itself. So I don’t think it was something where they planned to get rid of it, but once that happened they decided to put the ride there. So not sure it was a choice as much as it was something they were going to remove any way.

It was a good size line but I have a video from the opening day of the steel curtain and while the wait was pretty long, it wasn’t the same amount of people. Steel Curtain was a ton!

One of the classics, the rumor I heard other then their vision for Steeler country was that Log Jammer cost to repair was more than the ride itself. So it was getting to be too much to fix. I feel like Kennywood doesn’t handle spacing well in certain parts of the park and they could make room for a new Turnpike or Log Jammer if they really wanted to.

Yeah I guess it was supposed to last a year longer than it did but it kept breaking down. It was in pretty bad shape. I wish they could have kept it but the cost to fix it was more than the ride itself. It’s gone now but we have the memories at least. Steel curtain is almost here and it looks wild. Wonder when it’s going to get done through.

Ray What No, around July 4th.. They have to test the coaster 1000 times this weekend and it will take 10 days. We will for sure have a July 4th opening but don’t count on me. All they need to do is the 2nd train and concrete for paths and que. I see it opening around 4th-10th

Yeah I want to say I waiting 2 and a 1/2 hours. The ride broke down early on and some people left so we kept moving up but we were there at 10:30 I think and we left right after the ride and it was 1:30-2pm

Yeah it was definitely getting pretty bad. Noticeable rust spots all over it, broke down a lot at the end. I know it holds a lot of sentimental value but still.

God I miss this ride so much, steel curtain hate to say it was a big mistake to build because it’s barely open and it takes up so much room of the park, don’t get me wrong though I think it’s an amazing ride to experience but It just takes up way much room of the park and it is barely open, I feel like they could’ve used those old pavilions and make it more Steelers themed pavilions with TVs in them instead of tearing them doing just for a building called Steelers Experience which is barely opened, I feel like they could’ve used the money to rebuild log jammer instead of tearing it down, we’ll get atleast we still have raging rapids and Pittsburgh Plunge, I’ll count the paddle boats and old mill aswell

Replacing this ride with Steel Curtain was such a bad idea. Log Jammer was a great and reliable ride that was open enough to satisfy families for decades, but then ever since Steel Curtain was built, it was barely open, and has been closed for 2 YEARS! And the worst part is, it caused Kennywood to lose a lot of money, and because of the pandemic, they lost SO MUCH MONEY that they had to REMOVE 4 CLASSIC RIDES! Volcano it made sense to remove because it was always closed, but the other three were popular, especially Kangaroo (which was the last ride of its kind). The park is going downhill and recently got rid of their chairlift ride, I don't think it will last many more years. Kennywood already has a great worldclass coaster (Phantom's Revenge) and is a classic park that should've preserved a classic Arrow flume instead of replaced it with a downtime machine like Steel curtain.

Well there is a bit more to the story on the replacement at least based on what I heard. The Log Jammer was on its last legs and the cost to repair it was more than the value of the ride itself. Knowing that Steel Curtain was going on somewhere in the park, they made the decision to put it in there. Now it would have been nice if they had given advanced knowledge of this, but at least they let people know the week before it would close, which they didn't do for the others. I don't think them losing money caused the other rides to close. I think it was more than Kennywood is trying to change into a more modern park. I do think losing the Kangaroo was a bit mistake and maybe should have been moved to Lost Kennywood. I do think Kennywood has a plan for the future and I think it will lose that old school charm for more modern attractions. Problem is that Kennywood has had very bad luck with those. The chairlift was pretty bad and probably going to go anyway. I think Kennywood will go through some major changes in the next few years and that the traditional crowd will be disappointed with those changes.

People may be sad to see that ride be demolished but it had to go , it had some serious deterioration all through the ride and the fiberglass trough that held the water and was the track for the ride posed a big danger to the safety of guests and the park said that it wasn't fixable so the only thing to do was close the ride and scrap it and put a new ride in it's spot.
