I guess one downside of the log wizard is that it leaves behind a quite rough surface as opposed to the peeled surface or cut surface with the drawknife. Yeah, drawknifing works and makes a really nice surface but is very hard work and rough on the back. Thick bark like that is no fun to drawknife when you got 20 log waiting down the line, haha

Honestly the barking spud seems to work just as fast and do a much cleaner job... I'm sure there are "those logs" that are a huge pain in the but that the log wizard would really help you out on, but not many unless you fell them the wrong time of year.

I agree! I'm having to fell trees this winter and using my drawknife to skin them. Either method is nothing but hard work. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

If there is a lot of knots the log wizard works better like a spruce tree

That log wizzard seems like way fuse and fluff than the old fashioned way….and A LOT of noise….but thank you for showing the options. Great work

I agree. It's an option which I don't like for the reasons you mentioned. That's one reason it sleeps in a gang box. It is useful to level knots when finishing logs though. Thanks for stopping by!

A couple questions. It looks to me that using your “Rod and chisel” is cleaner and more effective. Did you find that to be the case? Also, what are you planning your do with all those logs once they are cleaned up? I’m assuming looking at the bark that they are red pine?
