Not just Hollywood. It's life. A trained actor becomes good by learning techniques to let go and throw themselves into another character, to be someone else. When a kid is a good actor, it's inherent and untrained. They act without thinking, and they're just that good. Unfortunately, they also are unprepared for when they become adults and start overthinking. They haven't been trained to shut out the part of the brain that second-guesses everything, so someone who was once a phenomenal child actor becomes a mediocre adult actor.

This movie does not work if Dafne Keen was not as good as she was - the role of Laura was PIVOTAL to the movie being able to transcend beyond just another comic book movie, if her performance had been subpar or she had been the weak link, it would have tainted the film. Instead what she had done was elevate the role, and by her presence, elevate the scene and even the acting of much older and experienced actors around her. Like the saying a rising tide lifts all, Dafne's performance was a rising tide that made everyone else around even better and THAT is such a rare quality to find even in any actor, much less a child who had no big film experience. I hope she gets more chances to do great films in the future because she is one of a kind.

Are they going to travel back in time so the mutants don't extinct or are we going to have to deal with those shitty new ones. No, its because unlike happens in a country so XENOPHOBIC such as America, in other countries like Australia, the UK and beyond, they show American shows on TV and many of these actors grew up watching them. American TV shows and movies have for generations "teached" these actors since they were kids how Americans talk. Meanwhile, in America most American actors do NOT grow uo watching English shows (except for the most recent shows on BBC America - we won't know how influential that is until a decade or so). So that's why most American actors cannot do foreign accents because they were never exposed to them beside other Americans imitating those accents (badly).
