I was amazed to see what you have shown us. All my life I struggled with the complexities of the English language. I am now an ESL teacher and although I have not learned all you have shown, I will, as soon as I can. I am excited by the prospect of actually having answers for the questions my students ask me.

Madam, we study phonograms when we start learning Portuguese language. After some experience with English language I realized thai it was missing in English teaching. Sometimes people ask me to teach them some English, friends, wife, children and I have created a method similar to what I saw in this video. Vowel sounds, groups of letters sounds...I focus on teaching them how to read in English as we usully do in Portuguese...and they improve their English fast. You're great Madam, keep going!

I read Uncovering the Logic of English, and I love it! I have been sharing my knowledge of how words work with so many of my coworkers at my school. Many of them have purchased the book. Hoping we can use the book as a school-wide book study, so we can begin discussions on how to teach English to help all students become fluent readers. In the meantime, I'm looking at my personal budget to determine what I can purchase to get a start on teaching my students the logic behind our language. Thank you for all your hard work in making sense of English!

I have bought and downloaded Denise Eide's book. It is one of a kind. I used some of those unwritten rules for many years for my students, but Eide's book covers much more. Every English teacher must have it. I also use Spoken English-2020 crash course software for students from different countries. That teaches them how to say 2000 most useful sentences correctly, enough to communicate well in most real-life situations within a month. English is a difficult language, Eide's "teach the logic" method makes life easier. Great job!

I am at min 8:06 and I am blown away of this presentation . Just pulled my kids out of school due to COVID to homeschool and considering that we speak Bulgarian at home as Bulgarian is a phonetic language and seeing what they teach in kinder and 1st grade , I realize how wrong English language is thought at public school. I am buying this curriculum now- foundation A and B .

Super presentation. As someone who has suffered from dyslexia I really applaud what you are doing. If I had had this kind of training as a child it would have saved me years of struggle and frustration. As a child I was trying to apply logic to what I was being taught but could not make the connection; ergo I blamed myself.

I read once that John Dewey, sometimes referred to as the father of the modern educational system, advocated the teaching of sight words, not because of its effectiveness, but on the contrary because it restricts the ability to think conceptually, therefore making for a more complacent and "happy" populace.

English is a high content literature. Its grammar is very rich. The language teacher brings a conscious to the learners by saying, We Do The Best We Can, We Do The Right Thing, We Show People We Can. We can say it, a CODE. The code, we follow to build an International Language Family. My best regard to you LOGIC OF ENGLISH promoter, DENISE EIDE, thanking you with your efforts of building our language power. We LOVE English.

This lady knows her stuff! My son is dyslexia as am I and other members of our family. I have been attending adult literacy and can tell you this method/ approach is the best I've seen. I wish I'd been taught like this as I've spent the last year learning a lot of the things in her video after many years of trying and am determined that my son will not get to my age (45) not knowing the rules. Please take notice of this lady she really knows what she's talking about. Denise Eide is brilliant.

Thank you so much for such a great presentation ! It's common knowledge that students are often confused especially witth the English phonetics as they miss their lessons & then lack behind the others I tink this presentation will encourage sudents correct pronuciation & reading as it 's full of examples demostrating & interpreting them theoretically & practically . If you don't mind I'd like to pracise it in effective Lesson planning on task based learning .

And how does this have to do with what she's talking about? I'm sure she likes the compliment, but focusing on looks denigrates the subject being discussed, especially when women are the one's talking. It's much better to discuss the topic then what the person looks like.

Hi! Thanks for that video. Very usefull. But the presentation is for advance students. Difficult to understand at first because of the speed of the presentation, the new words etc and they are some discrepencies between words in the video and words in the subtitles. But those difficulties make it more interesting to develop our listening skill. Thanks again.

Should we introduce "a" as having three sounds or four? What about the schwa sound in words like about, along, and around?
@SALESENGLISH2020
@SALESENGLISH2020 5 жыл бұрын
The letter "a" can take several sounds depending on the word: Arm, acid, about, able, any, and all (British all sounds closer to Oll ). In fact each vowel letters can take several vowel sounds including schwa and silent. Busy, put, but, ... It's really confusing for the learners. 12 monophthongs + 8 diphthongs sounds and only 5 vowel letters, so it is bound to be confusing. The English alphabet needs to be revised someday to make life easy for the students. Of course, there will be a lot of resistance from the "experts" who do not want any change. But half of the Britons cannot spell common English words; Obviously there is a problem with the language. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/11142501/Half-of-Britons-cant-spell-common-words.html

to teach English-The first thing one must know well about all the aspects of the differences between English and the one of student's tongue, for example, the system of airflow in English, some languages never have a clue of this, they learn to say things in broken-apart and never fix those parts of that word together again. Tips of speaking, how to blend the sound together that makes his or her English go faster and faster and as naturally as English should be, something like that.

Simply brilliant. This method seems as if it would be much more effective than the current. Hopefully this particular method will be embraced as the future of elementary education. I wish I was taught this way as a child; not that I struggled with learning, but I imagine I would have progressed at a much greater pace. I'm 26 years old now, and the vocabulary of the majority of so-called adults that I know--including my immediate and extended family on both sides--and persons with which I used to hang out is suffering to the point whereby, with their diction as is, they're literally incapable of accurately what they think and how they feel more often than not. It's actually somewhat alarming, and a testament, I believe, to the failure of education systems (and of course the general status quo), which has, instead of fostering curiosity and personal development, extinguished such pursuits for one too many persons.

Good video. Even though English could be vastly improved by incorporating a truly phonetic alphabet that incorporates all of the sounds we know that this is not going to happen. Even if it were sanctioned it would take several lifetimes. What remains is that English is what it is. English. With that in mind your approach is reasonable and well thought out. I learned simple phonics when I went to school and I could read very well by the time I was in the 4th grade. Hardy Boys books were my fav.
