I've been dabbling with loops, this video has reinforced that idea to go further, thanks for making it.

What did you do before you dabbled with loops? You can still make beats without the loops? are the loops like a cheat code?
@joewilliams53962 жыл бұрын
@@California-king I played direct into my DAW. I thought loops were cheating, however I learn't how to manipulate them to work and not just use the loop straight out the box. My reggae track I used a combination of loops & logic stock brass. Unfortunately I don't know any brass players or can afford to hire, manipulating loops is the best option for me. Logic is a good DAW to help you do this.

Nice video Josh! One thing I like to do from time to time is sort alphabetically in the loops from Z to A or I find that I always choose loops that start in the As. I feel sorry for the loops with names that start from C to T because they almost never get used! :) Logic just has too many cool sounding loops. Once in a while, I just pick a random letter and search for loops that start with something crazy like “L” just to give some love to the middle alphabet.

I love Logic Pro Samples! They are fire. I hope they come out with a more hip hop, trap and rnb type samples. I can tell you that I used a couple of the same samples tho. Especially the cello. Lol I do wish it was more easier to put outside samples into the Apple Loop library and keep them saved in there for good.

So many great tips in this. Awesome! Hey - I get a little confused by all the 3rd party reverbs (Valhalla, Raum, etc.). Some people swear these 3rd party plugins are different, but when you dragged in that 14 sec setting, it sounds the same as ‘shimmer’. Isn’t reverb | reverb? Other than a preferred UI, isn’t the result the same?
@MusicTechHelpGuy3 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of room for improvement and expansion with 3rd party plugins in general. There are MANY different types of reverb, most notably 'convolution' reverbs like space designer, and 'synthesized' reverbs. Convolution reverbs will sound more realistic, because they are based on impulse responses of real acoustic spaces. You can actually create your own reverb this way. Valhalla Shimmer and NI Raum are both synthesized reverbs, they are synthetically created and can technically convey reverb in a way that a normal acoustic space cannot. I find Shimmer and Raum both fantastic for creating ambient effects and soundscapes.

@@MusicTechHelpGuy great insight! As a long time Logic /eMagic guy, I’ve been happy with Logic plugins, but the recent 50% deal at Native Instruments got to me and I bought Komplete 13, so I’ll be trying Raum more fully, and I have a free download of Valhalla Shimmer to compare. To date, a mix of Space Designer and separate EQ has been effective. I feel I’m late to the 3rd party world, but looking forward to catching up.

Hi! I follow you and I just find your resources pretty good and precious! You let us achieve great and ready-inspired solutions and tricks for our productions, which is great! I just would like to ask you smtg that it's very important when we talk about beats, and we aim to produce them ( and why not selling them using platforms or websites ); the TAGS! They are very useful if we want to sell them properly or find the right buyers. The main tag I usually see are like: " songname -someone famous- type beat ". I think it's important to make beats "In the style of" as much as we can, and make them catchy and ready to sell. Tags like " Mac de Marco X Tame Impala type beat " are very common (beyond man others, depending on style). Could you tag the beat you've just made in this video? It could help us target it better in our productions! Thanks a lot for your videos and content! Ro.Ss Rome, IT

Hey! I have a question. I have an old logic production from a few years ago. The midi sequencer patterns I did are great, but I want to alter their chord tonality. How do I “snap” a midi sequencer from one chord to another?

Well, like all production techniques, you don't have to use them 100%, you could use a bit of stock loops + your own compositions. I've even used loops as a placeholder and then re-recorded a loop's melodic or rhythmic motive with another instrument later. So there's all sorts of creative ways you can integrate loops into your compositions, even if you don't use them 'as is'. Best, Josh.

Sorry Dude I don't see you doing nothing from the heart, all your doing is using puzzle pieces to make a song, no originality at all, no musical talent at all, do another video and prove me wrong
@MusicTechHelpGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, I think you missed the part where it says "tutorial" right there in the title. It's a tutorial for beginners just starting off with loops, not a demonstration of my skills, nor an advanced composition tutorial. Contrary to your belief, you are not entitled to me proving you wrong. I've been a professional recording engineer and producer for almost two decades, and I work full-time as a recording engineer and producer as well. I support myself and my family 100% with this job, that's my proof.
@mperkins2222 жыл бұрын
Who cares a beat is a beat, do you know how many hit songs you love were samples and have absolutely no creativity involved from the producer outside of putting the pieces together from past hit songs, dude you make absolutely no sense, there’s a million different ways to skin a cat dont make it harder then what it is, Id rather put loops together and make my own beat and do music then spend 300 dollars on a KZbin beat that I don’t even own, and more then likely are also loops, you crazy
