What a nightmare! As a non-musician I've been trying to get my head around GarageBand for IOS for the past four months (mainly through your excellent videos) but thought I would have a little look at this video and now I think I may need to start again....with Logic Pro. Many thanks for your incredible work Pete.

Very Helpful intro this cool program. I’ve only used GarageBand until now. I can see how the shortcomings of GarageBand are addressed in Logic Pro for iPad. I’m just wondering how long it will take to master program sufficiently to be able to make realistically make a song vs using GarageBand 🤔

Can you audition the chords in the chord track before the session instruments play them, so you know what the chords will sound like before playing the track?
@PeteJohnsMusic6 ай бұрын
Sort of. You need to change the chords first and then use the preview button. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqq9hYN8epJ7Y5Ysi=ym6GT415idHYTkMC

Very cool stuff. I do wonder though with the intricacies of the new session players if that will actually be a learning curve/ barrier of entry for the people who enjoyed the simplicity and “ready to go” attitudes of the original drummer and stuff. I mean the amount of programmable settings rivals even some premium paid drum programming software out there.. will be interesting to see the community feedback. I think it’s really cool but you do have to kind of understand these intricate concepts like ghost noting, feel, and backbeats/forward pushes- all somewhat complex drum concepts in order to get the absolute most out of the new features.. chromaglow is going to be one of those things that will take people a while to figure out as well.. sort of acting as a “secret sauce” to a mix.. I totally agree with you that less is more with that. Stem splitter basically performed the way I expected it to with similar performance to what is already out there. Good stuff!
@PeteJohnsMusic6 ай бұрын
Very good thoughts all round! Yes, agree that the learning curve can be steeper, but the presets are still there, and are pretty awesome out of the gate!

I am a singer but not a player and I foolishly thought that you could introduce session players to an existing composition and it would play along in the chosen key and tempo. It appears though that it needs programming via the chord bar - or do I need to spend more time watching your excellent videos!
@PeteJohnsMusic6 ай бұрын
Hey there. So yes, I had hopes for some sort of “automated chord identification” options but alas you’re right - it’s all manual. Maybe version 2.1? 🤔

This is ASS! Pete you’re great so this isn’t in reference to you or your platform. This update is basically for noobs. Anyone who really uses these softwares for music production can tell you, these are features NO ONE cares about. Im halfway thru the video and all that was talked about was session instruments? Im paying to subscribe for session instruments?! Im starting to see why ppl say apple is a joke. I came to the ipad in 2020 specifically for music production And it hasn’t been appealing to use since the Cubasis 3 update which is STILL buggy with basic zoom features. Make features that ACTUAL users want. This is a joke of an “update”! Appreciate you tho Pete. You always give great deep dives and ive learned a few things from your videos but apple is gettin ridiculous now! The only thing they did was add serato 2.0 for free lol

Thanks for your feedback and comments. Like most things, these won’t be for everyone. For those of us who are songwriters and want quick and easy ideas for drums, bass and keys I think it’s great. But… you can also ignore them! For half a Netflix per month I stroll think it’s a solid deal. Otherwise I’ll just sit around watching “Friends” repeats. 😀
