@@jonobuchananmusic I'm enjoying experimenting with this one a lot, thank you. I"m taking your automation steps a little further - I'm using three separate instances of Modulator with differing rates, cycle lengths and waveforms to alter the two Formant controls and the Freeze switch on the Evoc plugin, which randomises and changes those parameters on subsequent play-throughs. (and BIP-ing any happy accidents.) Thanks again for the clearly-explained and thought-provoking videos. 👍

I’m just playing with the popular Illustrator 2 by Devious Machines, and here you are adding similar movement, filters, modulation and dynamics with delivered Logic plugins! Excellent work! Plus, as a 25 year Logic guy as i am, I shouldn’t be surprised and yet this video helped remind me the ‘one button’ solutions from new vendors are cool, but without understanding what’s happening underneath, you miss out on the fun of learning new techniques.

Thank you, as always! And yes, the other disadvantage of those solutions can often be that it's hard to unpick or personalise the treatments they offer. It takes a little longer but building these yourself will always provide the most flexibility.

You practice what you preach. In a way, this reminds me of your ear candy video. The listener will anticipate the ear grabbing fx and you are adding variety to maintain interest. I always wondered what to do with the ring modulation fx. Great application. Fascinating and well done!

Thanks so much, Rene! Glad you enjoyed it and, absolutely, in small doses, the Ringshifter is a really interesting effect. At high mix levels, it can dominate a little too much, too easily.

Jono, I have enjoyed two of your tutorials during a 4 hour flight. Such a learning experience! I was thinking also automating the panning of the reverb with a second auxiliary track with a second reverb. I’ll try it out. Thanks again!
