Thank you for putting these videos out you’re amazing! I just jumped into recording while hoping for the best and now that my rush for recording has calmed down I’m learning the essentials of understanding Logic X. You’re making it so much easier ❤️

Great video. I’m and old school guy. I recently bought an Roland FA06 and a model 12 digital recorder.But I noticed my kids could edit better and faster within Logic. So now I have Logic X. I’ve heard that I can use the Roland as an audio interface

Great videos, way less overwhelming than the 12-hour everything in Logic courses. How do I navigate to the Gain setting if I'm trying to set up my new mic and the waveform is super low?

Thanks for the videos! What if you have a controller on your midi player, do you still need an interface?

Love your videos man! We use Logic on our Mac mini m2 Pro to record and input monitor our live instruments and vocalists live. From time to time, we’ll get system overload despite have the I/O buffer size at 1024. All other apps are closed and we have 16GB of RAM. Does the multithreading setting impact CPU usage. We currently have it set to Playback and Livetracks.
@MusicTechHelpGuy4 ай бұрын
You definitely want it set to "Playback and Live Tracks" to spread the live processing over multiple threads. Your RAM doesn't really matter as much for the application you've described, your processor speed and number of threads is going to be more important for that. If it was an older Mac mini I would say that your processor is too slow, but the new M2's have pretty blazing fast cores and 8 of them. If you are running any plugins live, I would look at swapping out things like Limiters, or plugins like Ozone, ChromaGlow, and other high CPU load plugins. If you're using plugins live I'd stick with simple EQ, compressors and reverbs.
@RevJorgeDiaz4 ай бұрын
@@MusicTechHelpGuythank you so much! The vast majority of plugins we’re using are stock Logic plugins with the exception of 2 Waves plugins: Clarity Vx and Real Tune Real-Time. The heaviest processing we have is on the vocal channels with EQ, Compression, DeEsser and finally the waves plugins. Reverbs and Delay are on a vocal buss. Perhaps we should move some of the vocal channel plugins to the buss?
@MusicTechHelpGuy4 ай бұрын
Clarity Vx is probably the culprit. Background noise removal is quite CPU intensive. Even some of my iZotope RX11 plugins for noise removal cannot be used in real time. I would think about maybe swapping that plugin out for a finely tuned Gate to gate the background noise when they are not playing/singing. RVox is a pretty good one from Waves that's meant for vocals - one of the only Waves plugins I actually use! Good luck.

Probably important to add that when recording be in "Pre fader" metering. It displays the "actual" level of the recording.
@MusicTechHelpGuy6 ай бұрын
If your audio track is in record enable mode, the meter automatically switches to pre-fader. No need to switch over. Even if your volume fader is all the way down, you'll still see a pre-fader meter in record enable mode.
