It is said that if a father has two daughters whatever the father inherites will also be divided into his nephew because he does not has a son. And people confidently says that this is how Islam told us to do. Why do we have to give inheritence of what my father inherited from his father to my cousins if I don't have a brother? Sorry for making messy but I'm losing words out of frustration. it isn't it injustice? This is why a poor father from a small village in Bangladesh will reasonably wish for a son so he doesn't have to distribute his property to his nephew( I'm not suggesting it ). @@michellehemingway3413 first count your father's inheritance, take half of it for yourself, the rest is for his brothers and sisters, 2 shares for the males and 1 share for females. If your grandparents are alive, each one gets 1 sixth of the total. If not then don't count them. So.. first you take half, second your grandparents take sixth each, the rest goes to aunts and uncles. Do the same for the mother side. If no uncles and aunts, you get everything. Cousins get nothing in all cases because you exist.

Scholars can give a lecture on why men have to take the financial burden. I'll give just 2 reasons among several reasons. Woman doesn't have to work but if she wants to do so, it's not compulsory for her to help the husband. She can keep the money for helself or share it with him. If the wife goes to work, she can get harrased, abused, robbed whether outside or inside the company. This probability is higher to happen for women than men. Suppose if the woman is pregnant and then delivers the baby, so according to you, man sleeps at home and the woman goes to work ???? You don't understand the concept of equality. Men and women are equal in islam but not identical.

For example, in every company, there are rules to follow: what employees should do, what they should not do. But unfortunately, many don't follow the rules. Eventually, the company will not function perfectly. When the teacher tells the student not to cheat on the exam, but he cheats. You blame the student not the teacher. Similarly, when god tells us not to abuse or rape women, but when this happened, god can't be blamed. The people who has done it are to blame. Is it mentioned in quran that, if allah wanted, he could have made everyone believe in him and obey him and make this life a perfect one. In that case, no need for him to create humans. Because this life is a test for the hereafter. Anyways, let's go back to our sheeps. Paternal or maternal leave has nothing to do with financial burden. Since you mention it, it depends on each country. For instance in my country Morocco (arab country in north africa) in case you don't know it, the paternity leave is 3 days and for mothers is 98 days.

I don't understand why women are subjugated when they receive half less than their brothers. This is teaching society that women are dependents and subordinates. This is why majority of the women end up on the streets in many Arab countries when their husbands die because they are traditionally not meant to work. And so they have to beg to make a living.

@@abasha4356 Sorry for the late response. Man and woman should help each other in doing good and avoiding evil. A woman is always under the guardianship of a responsible man through her life. This is not to say that she is helpless and subjugated but to protect her from exploitation and also to give man responsibilities. First there is her father. When she marries, her husband makes a committment to her dad to care for her. If she is divorced, she reverts to the guardianship of her dad. If her dad dies, she is under the guardianship of her brother. If she has no brothers, her father’s brother is responsible and so on. Regarding women who have no males in their lives, well there's a system of charity called Zakat. Zakat is a means to purify one’s earnings by giving away 2.5% of one’s annual earnings for distribution to the poor, single woman, the old and the infirm. Furthermore, it's highly recommended in Islam to marry widows. To sum up, many people calling themselves "muslims " don't follow what i mentioned above. So don't blame or criticize Islam. If you want to know how good a car is. Then a bad driver took the car and did an accident. You'll blame the driver not the car. So similarly, if you want to understand Islam, don't look at the muslims because many of them don't follow correctly. Look at the main source which is quran. Finally, if you want a typical example of Muslim, then of course it's our beloved Prophet Muhammad. Allah knows best.
