Hi, finally I've found some good videos that can explaing things properly, thanks! I still have a doubt: i'm a noob import operator and cannot figure out the steps of MBL+HBL and "direct" MBL (we call direct those MBLs that have the actual shipper and cnee on it, no agent involved). Can you please explain? In this case, does the actual shipper books the freight from the shipping Company with no forwarder involved? And then gets the BL when the ship leaves? What about MBL+HBL. It's such a mess..

Good explanation, but what is D/O?
@logisticsyoutuberiinosan23583 жыл бұрын
D/O = Delivery Order, which is the document to use for getting out the container from the port.
@yinyin76143 жыл бұрын
Hihi, I have question. Thanks. If I book through the freight forwarder, I only get HBL, is that the export freight forwarder send MBL to their import freight forwarder to collect D/O with shipping line. Then Importer/Consignee go to the forwarder & exchange HBL to D/O which is issued by shipping line to collect cargo.
@logisticsyoutuberiinosan23583 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are collect. Exporting Freight Forwarder send MBL and HBL to importing side Freight Forwarder. Cnee will get D/O with HBL. MBL will be kept, not released to Cnee.

Dear, It is a really amazing video, I have just one question, Does the freight forwarder have to pay for the empty container that it is going to be picked up by the driver the same or the day before? my doubt is the containers are rented or bought by the forwarder? to whom belong the containers?
@logisticsyoutuberiinosan23583 жыл бұрын
If we arrange the truck to pick up the empty container and delivery to the shipper, yes. Forwarder has to pay this transportation charge but we can charge it to the shipper.
@joseborja38693 жыл бұрын
containers are rented by the FF at the moment that a booking is issued, you must pay for empty container maneuvers so you can load it into the truck, it depends on the incoterm you're using to whom the maneuver will be charged

Thanks for your helpful video .. but what does (VGM ) mean pls ?
@Lobos222 Жыл бұрын
Verified Gross Mass (of the container). The loader of the container must do a weight distribution check and be within given limits to not create safety risks while the container is being transported. This also includes filling out a document called VGM which is a list of what is on the container and its weight, with TARA (TARA = weight of container without goods, aka the self weight of a container). This is something you give to the shipping company so they can be in compliance with SOLAR (Safety of Life at Sea) and IMO (International Maritime Organization). Note that most sea laws within a nation comes from given nations or international recognized treaties. What that means is that you might read a nations sea laws and they will be very similar to another nations, but also have given aspects that only concern them. In this context however, that means that stuff like ISPS (security doc) or VGM is internationally needed and in some cases you also need a certificate of a VGM (higher valued document of the same, but gotten via a governmental page and or via being registered to be licensed to produce VGM certificates).

thanks for your video!!! I have a question, In this video, there is an importer's forwarder. But I wonder Whether they only issue the A/N and pay some charges in advance for the importer ? Because as I have learned, the importer's forwarder nomally also make the customs declaration and transport the imported goods from the port to the importer's warehouse. please explain for me. Thank you very much!
@logisticsyoutuberiinosan23584 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! In Japan, Import side forwarder issue A/N that is a bill of port charges, ocean freight(if freight collect), other surcharges. Cnee or Cnee's shipping company will pay it first. If the Import side forwarder does the customs clearance together, this forwarder will charge all cost to Cnee later. In Thailand, we issue A/N and charge to Cnee or Cnee's shipping company later. better to understand, import forwarder and shipping agent is not the same all the time. Import side freight forwarder as a catching agent issue A/N and D/O, but shipping job is conducted by the shipping company who deal with Cnee.

I just got my business license and contracting a shipping logistics company. Dude hired me knowing I have no experience and said he was going to train me. What is the best source to learn this?
@Lobos222 Жыл бұрын
How to learn international trade: 1. Schooling. If you are young, this is a good option. 2. Courses hosted by government or other recognized by the government to hold given standards. 3. Governmental web pages. For example my nations customs department page has whole step by step lecture pages (web only, free) or class room courses (these cost money)on how to do customs docs (SAD document), how the process works, which laws are needed and so on. The quality or availability of these type of things will differ from nation to nation, but many nation invest in them to lower errors that in turn take up much of their time. 4. KZbin channels like this and series. Just keep in mind that you need to do several of them, not just one, because each fright forwarder works within different sectors, not just shipping, road, rail, plane, but operate in different nations that might have given things that are important to know. They might not even be aware of critical aspects that are important for import or export from your nation. 5. Unemployment programs that can, if you apply, pay for courses that will give you a international trade \ domestic trade education. Obviously you need to be unemployed to apply, your nation also needs to have given programs that do such, but some times if there is unemployment programs that are free. They some times can set aside money for other programs as well if there is a high chance of employment etc.

There are additional steps if the cargo's destination is the U.S. in which case the bill of lading would have to be at least known so that the ISF could be filed to avoid a hefty fine from U.S. Customs. The steps given are not complete nor totally accurate, such as the importer booking directly with the steamship line and no forwarder involved.
@logisticsyoutuberiinosan23583 жыл бұрын
thank you for your additional information.

Agree. Not all seafreight export shipments require the services of a freight forwarder. Shippers can book directly with the ocean carriers without passing thru a freight forwarder.
