You don’t need to use the IR transmitter if the AVR or preamp processor has a remote input. Just run a jack cable directly from the chosen output of the Harmony hub to the remote input jack on the back of the AVR/processor. :)

I have the previous unit. Absolutely the best in the price range. I’m going to move it to the master bedroom theater and see if I can get it to operate my Stewart screen, TV and other components. The new one will go downstairs. It truly is worth every penny.

Have a question? If the tv is in the other room do you have one of those it blasters for the tv??? Is there a cord long enough? Or am i miss understanding and just answererd my own question in that the remote outputs ir also?

This is priceless. Chris did you tell him the lighting was perfect at the children's table. Zach is a great big kid at heart. Ethernet port is absolutely a nice feature. My hub takes 30 seconds to connect sometimes. I assume you can set up the remote via internet rather than USB connected to laptop like the Harmony remotes from ten years ago.

I understand Harmony is dropping all of the remotes, they will still support the ones sold but they are getting out of this business. What remote would be a good alternative for owner programing. I would like to use a I Pad to control my home theater.

I have the basic Harmony Hub with the non-touch screen remote, the thing controls all my devices like a dream. One day I'll go fancy and upgrade to the elite remote since I hit the device limit.

Yea for some odd reason when I use the remote through the hub I get horrible lag, specially with the apple TV, but when I actually go to the devices option and hit the apple TV option it runs perfect. Not sure what's the deal with that 🤷🏻‍♂️

You need to adjust the input settings and delay setting for when you press a button I install these all the time never have a lag issue.

We install Harmony Pro across the world (Dublin, London, New York, Nice (France) - there is virtually no input lag unless IR is misaligned or network not set up correctly. (sbitav.com)

Thanx for the videos Zach....👀Will it work if I connect the IR output of my Samsung TV directly to the IR receiver and then put an IR extended cable to an amp on another room instead of having an extra amp....I also wish to control the amp volume and tv volume with the same remote control PS: when I am on the tv room I switch to speakers A and speakers B when I am in the room where the amp is. Cheers!🍺

It will be about 20 feet away on the other side of the drywall in a cabinet, I'm building a theater room I have all my wiring ran to that spot I'm getting ready to hang drywall but I would hate to hang the drywall and then not have it work. I have the cabinet framed in the drywall in the office room so it would only be 1/2 inch drywall and 1/2 inch of the cabinet wall.

I have a few questions 1- can you add another touch-less remote to the hub? 2- can you control 2 zones ( 2 rooms) with a centralized AV setup simultaneously 3- what is the range of the RF? 4-how long can you extend the SMA antenna? 5-can it control Nvidia Shield and amazon fire over IP rather than bluetooth? 6- what is the range of BT? The new Pro 2400 has 3.5mm IR jacks, the Harmony Pro has 2.5mm jacks not 3.5mm like you say in your video. Just wanted to clarify for you....

Not natively, but if you have Google home or Alexa devices in your home, you can enable the harmony skill and have your voice assistants co trol harmony.

With IP control, does the hub and the devices talk to each other to confirm that the end devices are on their correct input? With the elite, I still have to use "help" once in awhile to get the TV or the Receiver switch to correct input. It's 2020, these sorta problems should not exist anymore.

NewYorkBlack no it doesn’t talk back that’s why you pay for the more experience remote products like control 4, Crestron or savant, they have, the software that knows where the device is. The harmony is more of a basic functions hence why it’s cheaper I do loads of harmony’s because they are easy for people to use and cost affective if you you want it to do more you need to pay for it basically.

now my questions is did you run a cable to the TV for the IR? how does the TV know when to switch on? I wouldn't think the IR would work for the TV if its in the cabinet behind a closed door. Im building a double storey house and will have all the hardware upstairs (amp, N Shield, Apple TV etc) I am just assuming that I can run a CAT6/CAT5e cable to the TV to extend the IR. would this work?

Yes, I always run 1 HDMI and 3 cats to the tv/projector. HDMI is signal, cat is IR, another is data, the last is spare in case HDMI fails...👍

poserwannabe thanks for replaying back and for the info. So once the network cable has been run do we just cut one of the IR cables and re-join them? I’m also cautious about distance. From down stairs to upstairs where the cabinet will sit it’s roughly 15m away. Hoping that won’t be an issue for the IR.

@@lequidsnake yep, just cut IR cable in half, extend with cat cable, make sure you pay attention to polarity, it only works one way. No problem with distance, I've done 10k square ft+ houses from basement no problem 👍

If it's anything like the harmony one like I have and don't use anymore the battery life really stinks, will only last maybe 3 days. Also, if you use another remote, say a dish network to turn on just the tv and set top box and go to turn it off with the harmony, it gets confused and vise versa the other way and you now have to manually turn one of the units on/off to get it in sync. Yes we use 2 different remotes.

Do you find that the pro 2400 has a snappier button response than the Harmony Elite? My main frustration with the HE is the volume control short press is very slow, but a long press will go from min to max volume in about 1 second.
