Excellent video. Battery replacement worked like a charm. I appreciate the time and patience you took to show how to remove the difficult screws. I would have just stripped them in my impatience and been in big trouble. Hopefully my Harmony Elite will last another few years until someone comes up with an adequate replacement.

Thanks for this video. I had some problems with the cradle. It wasn't charging. So I cleaned everything and now it seems to be working. I wasnt sure if that port was only for data use but you clarified that it can also be charged with that port. I will order that battery for future use. Thanks!

I tried to do this a while back (a week or two before you posted this), but best I could do with the pretty decent screwdriver set I had on hand was to get one out, and to ream out the other one a bit before calling it quits. And save it for another day and hopefully be able to try again later and have better luck. I did realize at the time that my screwdriver's "handle" was too skinny to keep a good grip on (similar to what you experienced) and the screwdriver in the battery kit was junk, but didn't get around to getting something else. So now that I see there are some viable options for screwdriver kits with bigger handles, I think I'll give it another go (though I do wonder if the battery I bought is still even usable at this point). Fortunately the Elite has kept on ticking in the meantime. The screwdriver kit you linked to is different than the one in the video (or at least it is now), and honestly that one linked to doesn't really look that much bigger in diameter than the one have, or at least it still looks to be too small… Road trip tomorrow to home depot to see if there's anything viable there. Great Video, My Elite that has served me well for a good 8 years started to freeze and reboot randomly, I am hoping it's just the battery as I saw some other Logitech remotes have the same problem due to the battery so your video came in handy for the battery replacement.

So did it help with the freezing screen to change battery? I have the same problem with my screen.

@@martinrder563 Yep, It worked. I removed the battery left it for 5 mins for the power to completely drain from the remote, reconnected it and placed it back on the dock (docking it will start the resync of the remote to the hub after the power drain) and the reboots and freezes are gone. I brought a new battery for the remote but I did not need it the current one was still good, the remote just needed to be drained of power but other sites do say replace the battery as the freezing is due to power issues but I would say remove the battery and then reconnect it and see how it goes.

I been looking for other options for a universal remote. My harmony ain't working to good anymore. I'm able to control my devices that I already have put in when I first got the harmony but I haven't been able to add a device. I wanted to add my epson projector and an old reciever for bass shakers both with no luck. I even tried contacting them with no luck. So hopefully another company will make a remote soon

It's definitely something on your end - nothing has changed with function or support at all. Try a factory reset on your remote and hub.

⁠Hi @@COGuyStuff, Bummer. Thanks for sending. I have seen that. I was wondering about your technique to release the 6 tabs without damaging/breaking them. particularly on the side where the FFC is for the touch screen, Or scratching the remote. Do you recollect sliding the plastic opening tool along the sides with a bit of inward pressure, or did you push inward and twist? Since it seems the remote plastic frame /tabs can be broken/damaged or the screen FFC damaged, wondering what your trick was to release the tabs without damage or breaking them. It’s possible but I doubt it. It may be a bad internal connection or screen module though. I would open it and check things out. Might have gotten wet too.

@@COGuyStuff Ah. I get it now. It was for our benefit. And so thanks for sharing that. It was very helpful. I used it immediately to replace the battery. Now I have an Elite that's good as new.
