BRILLIANT! This worked! I was all ready to hunt for replacement switches online and break out the soldering iron. I've gone thru 2 M570's, and within a couple months, they both register double or sometimes triple clicks. My newest M570 got used up when it accidentally flew into the wall. So I tried it on the older one. Multiple clicking was solved easily. It seems that all that's required is to clean the contacts on these teenie little switches. They probably oxidize, and likely pick up oil, pizza sauce, extra hand lotion, Cheeto powder, etc. or whatever is on your fingers. Apparently, what's needed is some contact cleaning liquid. WD-40 works pretty well for this, but dedicated contact cleaners might be better. Some lubricant sprays have other crap like Teflon added to leave a protective layer after the oil evaporates. Isopropyl Alcohol would probably also work well for this purpose.

what about something like Servisol super 10? Its an electrical switch cleaner and lubricant in one (i read that most contact cleaners clean, but remove all grease and oil, so no lubrication whatsoever).....Im really nervous about taking my M570 apart and want to use something that will keep it working well for a few more years....please advise. thank you in advance

Thanks for the video! I couldn't find the final screw under the battery info sticker, that was super helpful. Interestingly enough I did find there is also a hole for accessing the circuit board under the model number sticker too. Don't be like me and cut through that! Like others, I was about to go buy switches to completely replace them. After watching this, I used Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner for cars, which you can find at any auto-body shop. Seems like it has done the trick! Now I have to go find all the old ones that have the same problem and fix them too. I swear I have about half a dozen of these with the problem floating around. I was getting sick of buying new ones. Thanks again!

I use nothing but a logitech trackball and thrown several of these away due to the double clicks problem. I love the trackball so much I have 2 spares in case they quit making them. Found your video and fixed the latest one due to your video, sweet..

Just did it today and worked! About 6 years dealing with this, but the last week was almost unresponsive, specially the on-off switch. Even without dismounting the card, just applying a little splash underneath the card just inside the switch.

Works like a charm, but only with a spray can of WD-40. The oil needs to penetrate deeply into the mini-switches. I hope they continue to be functional for a looooong time again. Note: The mini-switches can be opened as well after de-soldering. Two clips on the side (latch) needs lifting. Clean out the contacts with 100% alcohol and put them back together.

Before you change the switches with time-consuming soldering work, give them another chance with contact spray. A quick spray and then a few quick clicks before the creeping solution has evaporated. Worked wonderfully for me!

Hi, great video. I use pure silicone from Blaster instead because I am reluctant to use WD-40 which has organic solvent that makes things work fine first then it starts to work on dissolving plastic components as time goes by. You mentioned the battery operated screwdriver description is listed somewhere. I was not able to find it. Can you respond to this comment by mentioning where to buy this screwdriver? Thank you

Never faced any issues using WD-40. From official website: "WD-40 is safe to use on metal, rubber, wood and plastic. Polycarbonate and clear polystyrene plastic are among the few surfaces on which to avoid using a petroleum-based product like WD-40 Multi-Use Product." Links for screwdriver in the description.

It does work for my M570, but sadly enough only for a few weeks. Just took it apart and did the quick fix again, but can already tell it's not working miraculously better like it did the first time around. Left click button still glitches once in a while. Not only is that annoying tf out of me, it's also causing me to spend extra time ctrl-z ing stuff it does that I don't want it to do. I use this mouse at work for 3D modelling so the click buttons are used pretty intensively, but at not even two years old I find it too young to retire yet! Do all Logitech trackballs have this issue?

My problem exactly. I blew it all out with air and dowsed the switches with alcohol, then applied the WD40. This is my wifes M570 and she uses lots of hand lotion. The wheel was very gummed up with grease and lint. I used alcohol to clean that up as well. My M570 is at least 10 years old and all I've ever had to do with it, is take it apart and blow all the dust out with air. I think my wife's hand lotion is the real culprit.

I know this is an older video, but it still does the job. Previously i did the remove and solder new microswitch on my first M570 about 2 years now and still going strong. My second M570 just started going wrong so opted for the simple method as in this video and it works just fine. Lets see how long it lasts.

This saved me from buying 2 mice. It also worked on a MU0026 logitech optical mouse too. Those are easy they only have 1 screw. I used a q-tip and it allows for lubricating and cleaning at the same time.

Sadly this did not fix the problem on either of my M570s that have developed this issue. Almost certainly bad switches, but replacing them is definitely not in my skillset so... guess I will be hunting for yet *another* one of these. I can't stand any other mouse/trackball. The thumb control is just the only way to go IMO. One day they're gonna completely stop making a design like this and I'm gonna be SOL.

I used Teflon lubricant bottle as it is easier to control amount applied to switch. My Omron switches sadly have the double click problem and those are the good switches.

Is this safe? I know WD-40 can melt certain plastics. Like you can't use it on rubiks cubes for that reason.

no it doesnt work ho hum. i had a lot of dust in there but i guess you got to solder the switch in there. i dont know how to solder. guess ill just drop 40 bucks to buy another trackball. i remember microsoft's track ball but they quit selling it. well back to the drawing board.
