I have this wheel too and it feels perfect. Really all the sensations that you expect from racing in a real car. I hope it becomes a success so Logi will keep supporting it with new wheels and a shifter. I can't stand the people complaining about the price. This kind of quality comes with a pricetag, deal with it.

Took a bit to get used to the brakes more than anything else, but was definitely worth it! Enjoy yours when you get it. Anxious to hear your thoughts. Grateful for your review of this newer Logitech offering. I have had a G29 for a long time, but had no where I could set it up that was close enough to driving position so for ages I'd barely sampled what it felt like to use, anyways I got myself the NLR GT lite just over a month ago and have since been enjoying the G29 a lot, but I'm a die hard petrol head, and driving on the streets can't fulfill my petrol head needs lol and since I'm looking to fulfill those needs with as much realism as I can afford, although it's great to finally use my g29 with a seat built for it, I'm finding that deadzone on it breaks the immersion (excuse my rambling 🤭) I'm seriously going to have to figure out how to afford a direct drive wheel ASAP since learning about the difference, I've looked at fanatec and thrustmasters in the past but that was before I'd even really used my g29 properly, and I'm kinda brand loyal and now Logitech has this offering, so if you do any more content on this direct drive Logitech wheel, Im sure I'll be watching them to see whether it's the one I'll be buying as soon as I can afford DD. PS, I'm glad you mentioned that the forces from the wheel do kick via the gaming rig, as I suspected it would when I was watching a previous review, but they were using it bolted to a surface not connected to their chair so they didn't get that perk, but I'm sure I'll appreciate that hidden feature lol. I'm also on PlayStation btw and love GT7, other than that I play dirt 2.0, project cars 1 nd 2, (if you haven't tried project cars I'd recommend trying to purchase copies of them (I hear project cars 3 went more arcade so never bought that) but check them 1 and or 2 out they have IMO better ffb detail than GT7, although not all cars are equal on them, but some are fantastic.

Hey Big T, I’m glad you got something out of the video there will be plenty of content coming on this wheel. Including a compatability test and settings across a heap of different titles and I will be trying project cars for sure as there has been a few people recommend now. Being on console you will have the same problem I did. There are not a lot of choices for dd wheels at this stage only the fanatec line up and the Logitech. Both are good options with the fanatec dd wheel and base combo being slightly cheaper than the Logitech one but is also less powerful. I’m saying that 8nm is still going to feel a million times more strong than the g29. I am by no means an expert on racing wheels but I am happy to answer any questions you may come up with in the future. Just a side note if/ when you start looking you will be constantly reminded that there are cheaper options But 99% of them are only for pc. As I said earlier us console people don’t have a lot of options at this stage. Hope you had a good Xmas mate Mitch

I got the G Pro wheel and Pedals just after they came out and I think they are great. I stepped up from the G29 and the difference is amazing. Tried to get a Fanatec, (only because of the name), but nothing else was available here in Australia at that time. And I can tell you I certainly don't regret buying this kit. I have it clamped to my very solid computer desk and it never even moves. Mine is set at 9nm which I use for F1 2022 and thats ideal for me, and like you say there is room to go more. But maybe if they had waited a little longer, they could have given 2 wheel options, because I would have gone for a Formula style wheel. And after spending over 2k on this kit I will be waiting a little while to update the wheel, if it comes. But don't get me wrong, this wheel is fantastic and I don't regret spending that money at all. Your options saying if people should buy it or not are spot on and said in a good way. I'm in Australia as well (Bathurst is my favourite track of all time, it rocks in GT7!) and was planning to get the new Fanatac DD Pro combo but the more of reviews I watch on the G Pro the more I think I might buy one - at least you can get them in Australia though I may wait for a few months for special offers to start appearing at places like JB Hifi. Coming from a Thrustmaster T300RS GT which I like but is just very poorly support in GT7 and other games where the FFB is almost non-existent.

After weighing the pros & cons between the Logitech Pro and the Fanatec GT DD. I decided that while he trueforce of Logitech while compelling that Fanatec had the better overall platform for the money and ordered the 8NM GT DD base, CSL Elite Wheel and v3 Pedals. The deciding factors were many YT sim reviewers reviewers were turning down the Logitech Pro force from 11Nm to around 8Nm anyways and were also turning trueforce down or totally off. Also the reviewers overwhelmingly said the V3 pedals were much better design and build quality than the Logitech pedals at that price point. Plus Fanatec already has a wide range of wheels and also sell a high quality shifter and handbrake peripherals. If Logitech Pro had also introduced other comparable peripherals, it'd have been a tougher decision.

It opened another dimension for sure, and after a week I just seem to want more and more racing game so I just f it, let's go for it. From someone who’s played the upgrade game going down the rabbit hole over the years I say spend the money right off of the bat and if you don’t want to stick with it then sell it for little loss and move on. Chances are you will be upgrading anyways if you go with a g29 or something plus the direct drive wheel may make the experience so much more enjoyable that it makes the difference as to whether you stick with sim racing or not.

Great and detailed review! I have watch part 1 also 👍🏻 well done mate 👌🏻 i’ve been looking to buy a steering set for ages now, still unsure 🤷🏻‍♂️ With your experience, which one would you buy, new Logitech or Fantec or something else? Thanks!
@meesamods
@meesamods Жыл бұрын
Hey Sheban, That’s a good and hard question and sorry about the long reply there are a lot of aspects to this and there is more than one answer. This answer is based on my experience which is aimed at console gaming so I don’t really know a lot about the pc specific wheels eg moza and the likes If it was purely about the wheel the fanatec ecosystem gives you more options to expand peripherals and wheelbases are all compatible to with all of their other stuff so you could start at a dd but then change to the podium without having to replace pedals and peripherals etc the Logitech sits in the middle in terms of power so it might not need to be upgraded depending on personal preference. I think either wheel would be a good choice. It honestly depends on what you are after and your budget and how big of a set up you would want to run. The other big factor is what you can actually get your hands on eg fanatec was impossible to get when I was looking might have changed now. Additionally if you are looking at playing on console as well it cuts your options right down. If I was starting from scratch and had no sim racing experience and everything was instock I would probably look at the thrustmaster tgt2 or Logitech g923 or something around there and use the money you save to buy a rig/ stand. You can always upgrade the wheel and pedals at a later date. If you have the extra cash I would work my up from there and probably look into the fanatec dd with 8nm boost. Regardless of what wheel you get you will have a good time Breaking it down financially if you ran an entry level seat like the NLR GT extreme it will cost you about $650 AUD then add the cost of the wheel/pedals will add anywhere from $400-$4000. It definately is not a cheap hobby to get into. Hopefully this helps and doesn’t make it more complicated for you Mitch

@meesamods
@meesamods Жыл бұрын
G’day Jeancarlo, The true force does add a few extra details in. I have been able to feel the curbs in GT. It is a bit of a balancing act as the true force also gives you engine vibration which can be a little over powering at times hence I turned it down a bit. The extra torque this wheel has also helps to make up for it. I will do some extra testing and let you know Mitch
@kpudgar
@kpudgar Жыл бұрын
With this wheel you can surely feel the curbs! My previous wheel was the T-GT II which too had some additional transducer feedback effects but you couldn’t feel the rumble strips. With the Pro wheel you have to have controller vibration turned on and then you can regulate how much of the Trueforce effects come throgh. Having the vibration on 20% you can feel the full spectrum of additional car and road details and I used to run it up to 55% for maximum driving and feel immersion. Anything above 55% was way too overwhelming and too vibrational-uncomfortable and distracting. Talkin’ ‘bout GT7 here only.

Hey I don’t really have anything to sell from the old rig but you can find boss kits to 3d print online and you can install any wheel you like. The down side is the wheel is not powerful enough to run it properly without maxing everything out so do this at your own risk. I have also seen a few replacement wheels on Amazon that look remotely f1 like. As for the hand brake mod you can modify any old cheap hand brake to do it just gotta install a button and some wires but you will need to completely disassemble your wheel to solder the wires onto the terminals of one of the other buttons. It can be rather fiddley - again do at your own risk as it is a bit in depth

Hey Skynick, welcome and I hope you are doing well. I still love mine and have zero regrets about buying it. It hasn’t skipped a beat. Having driven both the dd and mine Logitech one I personally prefer the feel of the Logitech. The only thing that lets us down is the customisation extra wheels shifter etc. it wasn’t a show stopper for me but for some it is. Both are good wheels and feel incredible in comparison to the entry level wheels like the g920 wheels and the likes Feel free to reach out if you have any questions I am more than happy to share the info and experiences with the wheel. Have a good one Mitch

Thanks Mitch for your kind reply. I started simracing with TGT2 and Tlcm pedals, and want to give a try to a Direct Drive one. Unfortunately for PS5 there are just those two options, I found so many different experiences with Fanatec, confusing me a lot. Logitech Pro seems to be a bit more reliable. I will wait until the next Black Friday and see what discount both will offer, considering also the new QR2 in fanatec seems to be a problem solvers. Very difficult choice indeed. I’m happy you’re satisfied about your Logitech Pro, I like the Trueforce add on, would add some extra feeling in ACC where I usually play.

The biggest difference for me is true force. I'd like more wheel options, but I prefer function over form. I do wish the wheel was a bit thicker and padded but it's solid and quality is very good. Logitech people on reddit have hinted at 4 new peripherals debuting in 2024. A strong rig is a must.

Update. Had the Logitech wheel and pedals for about a month set up to the omega prime lite aluminum rig. It's amazing, simply put. I use gloves but can easily drive without them and the true force feels great and there's plenty of power in the wheel. I'm set to 8.2 nm with a total of 11 available. Not sure I'll ever go that high as I'm really happy with the current setting.

Hey wardope, Good discussion points 😊 I don’t think the build quality is that different as both wheels feel pretty good the Logitech has more plastic on the outside but is metal where it counts. The only part that I agree that fanatec has at this stage is the peripherals and the price but I wouldn’t say it is a massive difference there either. The other issue with fanatec was availability. Well at least it was when I was looking around. It was unattainable for about 12 months with zero info from the company with when to expect more so I gave up waiting. Combine that with no other direct drive wheels that are console friendly. That all might have changed now as I haven’t looked for some time now. As for the community side I have only had positive interactions with other users so I have nothing negative to add on that front.

You simply CANNOT add any extra 3rd party equipment to a Playstation console. #1] Playstation will only accept ONE usb input and that's your wheel kit. #2] Only devices connected directly to your wheel base will be seen by your Playstation. It follows that if you cannot add your 3rd party device to your actual wheel connection ports then it won't work on your Playstation. 3] If you have a spare usb port on your PC gaming rig you can always add another usb racing device; handbrake, shifter, button box, led screen etc. It's that simple.

Hey Eidodk, I agree it is expensive but I don’t think it is much more expensive that the fanatec GT DD once you add the upgrades 8nm boost + load cell pedal. It was about $200 more at the time I got mine. In saying that you are are also getting a more powerful force feedback option. 8 nm vs 11nm. The other option would be the podium f1 pack but that is about $400 more and then you need to buy another wheel on top of that if you intend on drifting or rallying or racing anything that isn’t f1 and the wheels are not exactly cheap either. I agree with the upgradeability bit for now as fanatec has had plenty of development time and does have a lot of different wheels and peripherals you can buy. I am curious to see what Logitech comes up with in the future. Mitch

@@meesamods I think a lot more people find value in good expandability, Logitech wheels have essentially looked the same since I can remember, so I think many will choose not to go with Logitech, because it's highly unlikely they'll do different rims...where Fanatec and others give a great deal of freedom with upgrade routes. For example on my DD Pro, when I'm racing ACC, I can use my MacLaren rim, if I switch to trucking, I can use my big wooden rim and the button module, if I switch to Nascar, the option is there.. And so on with almost all classes of vehicle. The ecosystem is part of the value of a Fanatec purchase, Logitech doesn't currently, and most likely won't expand, so it's a big buy knowing you're stuck with one rim for potentially the entirety of the bases lifespan. It's a good base, but a big price point to have to swallow such limitation compared to competitors.
@vikingwar-beargaming8843
@vikingwar-beargaming8843 Жыл бұрын
They are also very late to the DD party, many established companies have been making nothing but DD bases for a long time. Without some impressive peripherals and upgrade paths, they'll find it hard to compete I think with the people who already have a solid customer base. They're budget oriented model won't work at DD prices, so that's also a large portion of Logitechs customers lost who would usually spend 250 on their latest wheelbases.. Probably won't be looking at the new DD.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. It is a risk at this stage with regard to peripherals and upgrades I think they will go down that path with the inclusion of the quick release but it depends on how long it takes for them to develop it. I feel like they probably could have delayed the release until they had developed some stuff to go with it. They probably would have sold a heap of extra stuff at the same time. @@meesamods Heyy! Thank you for replying, that's awesome! And yeah I really hope they open up some options for peripherals and upgrades too, I've been a fan of Logitech for a long time, as when I was on a tighter budget, I could still get a pretty cool racing setup, and it didn't kill my bank too much. And just having the 1 option for 250, was fine. But you're right, if they had bundle options with choices of some different rims, they'd do really well because at the moment, Fanatec don't seem to have bundles in, Logitech should have capitalized on that after a slightly extended release window. But here's to hopefully a positive future for sim racing across the board! And honestly I hope Logitech can get into the DD market on a similar scale to others... Additional consideration for you is there are currently no peripherals for the Logitech wheel and I assume they will be comi ng in the near future but there is not info at this stage. Which ever way you go you won’t be disappointed

@@meesamods Mitch, I appreciate your replies to the many commenters here. I read them all. I don't expect or need one myself but doing my own research here in 2024 I don't get the "fanatec slightly cheaper" feeling. In fact the fanatec is slightly dearer and the wait time now in 2024 is quite scary. Also apples to apples isn't possible as the 8nm fanatec model is an upgrade from a 5nm you pay for. Isn't that true? Rhetorical question there. Then there's the question of warranty issues. Here in Oz as you know, we are at the end of the food chain. If by chance you need to access warranty for a fanatec then good luck with that. I don't mean the poor service which is a factor, I'm simply referring to the distance and cost. Who pays for the shipping? How long will it take? I think that last one is a, how long is a piece of string question. If as another poster said here, Logi won't fix stuff they just replace the whole wheel/base then wahoo buddy! I'm up for that and I'll get that new wheel soon after I send the crook one back to Logi. True? I'm only using logic here, not actual incidences. Then there's the recent problems at the top of fanatec but before that it was the l-o-n-g wait times for purchased kit. I read some people ended up cancelling their orders but then had to sweat on getting a refund. Bit scary eh. But the price was my main factor. You would want the QR2 wheel setup. You would want the table clamp . . just in case. You would want the 8nm upgrade . . who wouldn't? Then there's these other wheels begging you to buy them when really one wheel is all I (you?) need. Right now as you read this the Logitech G Pro wheel, base and pedals bundle less than AU$1800 delivered with racing gloves thrown in. I foresee the price dropping a bit more pre Christmas too especially since the Cammus C5 and C115 have entered the contest. Sorry for the long comment. Some things can't go through to the keeper.

@@meesamods good point and there about the same in spec but cost under 1k , they should of been similar their 1st dd , buy a car and drive on a real track at 1300odd , just think it only does 1 thing and your at over 2k if you include console and a basic cockpit 17-1800 if no cockpit and use on a desk , they could of kept this *little lower power* and made a better one more expensive in the future , greedy considering it ain't a breeze on the top shelf sims

Buyer Beware: If you plan on buying anything from Logitech’s website be prepared to be frustrated, angered, enraged and potentially ripped off. I ordered the wheel and the racing adapter, both showed in stock and ready to ship on the site. After Logitech accepted my payment I get a note saying that shipping is delayed and that they have no estimate of when it may ship or be delivered. Just cancel right? Good luck, no living, breathing human works at Logitech support, impossible to cancel. Here I sit with no wheel, no adapter and an 1100.00 dollar hole in my wallet. I doubt that I will see that money again. Going to let my state AG deal with this and I am going back to FPS

G’day Lance, I have read a few stories of people having issues with the customer support and I must admit the amount of communication when I purchased mine was very minimal. It just turned up one day. Hopefully Logitech pick up their game in that sense. Mitch

@@meesamods Good Day Mitch, 4 hours of my day wasted trying to get a hold of them, with no success. Great part about it though when I contacted Fanatec, they could not have been more helpful. So all is well in the end. Maybe I will see you on the race track someday. Cheers, Lance

Maybe in mid 2024 the world has changed . . . but I doubt it. I ordered the wheel and it arrived in less than a week. I bought the pedals separately, stupidly missing out on the bundle offer, but I got no notification after 8 days (I'm in no hurry) but I called Logi's support line just yesty reporting said issue and this morning I got two emails; one from support telling me my ticket has been updated and the issue has been resolved and a second email was the notification that the item has shipped. What $hits me Lance is when people jump onto these review sites & make stupid fits-all comments. Are you actually even real? I mean, what do you mean by, you couldn't contact support? It's a phone number ffs? How hard it it for you to make a call? Are you an idiot? And Mitch, please don't fall for these bull$hit commenters. If you can't feel it, touch it or smell it, take it with a grain of salt. Don't be gullible or your comments section will be full of lies and misleading comments from people with their own agendas. And that's all I have to say about that.

Hey Mate, I am assuming that you have owned one and didn't like it or had issues with it? Can you share the details of why you don't think it was worth it? I love mine and it was definitely worth it to me. Did it cost me a touch more - yes about $200 more but the main reason I went this way is because it was available and is console friendly. Which is more than I could say for the 18months I waited for Fanatec to have any stock (may have been a different story outside of Aus). Now there are cheaper options but most are PC specific Which leaves us with Fanatec or Logitech as they are the only 2 DD wheels available for console. Mitch

I got mine a couple months ago and I absolutely love it and would buy it again 100% people say $1000 is too expensive but when you consider a good quality belt driven can cost easily $500 - $650. And it is 10x better than any other wheel I've had in the 10 years and 8plus wheels I've had. Including the fanatech CSL, thrustmaster t248 and t300, g27, g29, g923, and fanatech DD pro with the boost to 8 NM and a few more. And hands down this wheel is by far the best!!! If you are complaining about the price and how it's made from plastic it just means you're too broke to get one so you are throwing shade because I'm seeing a lot of negative reactions about the wheel from people who have never even used it. They are comparing it to the g923 saying they are the same, and that makes those people so completely stupid!

G’day ROSE, Thanks for the comment. I agree they are a great wheel and the only valid complaint at the moment from a comparison stand point is a lack of peripherals and upgrades. But given how new this is it was expected so as long as logitech develop decent stuff for it in the future it shouldn’t be a problem. But we shall see I guess. Mitch

I believe there is a lot of jealousy out there SimChaser and yeah, people make up all sorts of excuses (that are not reasons) not to buy one. It prolly makes them feel better about not being able to pay for one. My G Pro oozes quality right down to the oled screen on the base and being able to adjust stuff for the PS5 right there in front of the tv. Brilliant and now all the makers in this market that don't have this feature, will have to add one. Also I see more plastic bases in my crystal ball now that Logi have shown the way it can be done. I'm lovin' it.
