9 years later, I'm still using these. They are still intact, the pads are in perfect condition and the only thing I've had to do is to clean some of the plastic reversion. They are super solid and sound great.

Probably within the next 2-3 weeks. The first production models are expected to be shipped soon, so the reviews will probably be coming out about a week from that date.

I think you're wrong. These sounded very good, and I've personally listened to some of the lower cost IEMs, and they were quite good. I've got the UERM custom IEM, and I think it's quite good (but I like my JH13s better). I've measured and heard the new UE900 and it was pretty good (a tad bright maybe). The only thing that sucks is the loss of focus on the Squeezebox. Their cans sound pretty darn good, on the whole.

A very comprehensive review yet again, I always use your reviews as a first point of reference. Nice to see logitech coming out with some quality products, will definitely check them out as I'm looking for some wireless headphones. (my marley exodus is keeping me going till then :)
@miceblue42512 жыл бұрын
The UE9000's design reminds me of the Ultrasone ED8 (tight fitting headband, earcups protrude horizontally outward, and the "yoke" extends flush to the midpoint of the earcup). The UE6000 on the other hand reminds me of the Beats Studio (noise cancelling, uses removable batteries, weird plastic-looking padding on the top, squeaky plastic construction, and the folding hinge). XD
@Astrill110 жыл бұрын
I've watched alot of your vids. I think you give excellent reviews. Very informative and thorough. I don't think I will buy headphones again without checking your channel first. Keep up the great work.
@zzbanx11 жыл бұрын
Well, there is a on/off switch that turns the active amplification and noise cancellation along with bluetooth. There is no separate switch just to turn the noise cancellation off. It would be great if those headphones didn't hiss in active mode. Check out the video on my channel and listen to it on some headphones, I'm sure you'll notice.
@miceblue42512 жыл бұрын
Holy moly, better than the ED8's? :o Now that's impressive considering they're nearly 1/3 the price (though materials and aesthetics probably play into the ED8's bigger price tag). I've listened some of Ultrasone's other headphones and they weren't that impressive from my listening experience. And I thought the UE6000's "squeaked" at 1:12 in the video.

I really liked the sound of the Sony Mdr1R. Nice sounding bass. If you do not live in an area with a lot of noise pollution, I think you would enjoy them. However, one set of cans I totally recommend are the Polk Audio Ultra Focus 8000. The most neglected and unknown pair of headphones.
@solesurvivor2k11 жыл бұрын
To be honest, the best ones I have tried have been the Polk Audio Ultra Focus 8000. I returned them because I wanted to see if there are any that sound better. So far, none of them have. I will be trying the Parrot Zik next, after that these UE 9000. Since I am getting these through Amazon, i have been able to return all of these headphones with no problem. The Momentum's are good as well, but passive noise canceling. I really want to try the Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6.
@Ganym3de12 жыл бұрын
Just check out their page, awesome and easy to understand tiers. Very recommendable. At first I though they were Corsairs Vengence line of gaming headsets! as they have the same color scheme and looks. As far as these go, they look great for an all around sets (good sound, passive and active noise cancelation, mics for telephony, and good looks. Their in-ears seem good for entry level (though they don't have much useful information) as do these. And as usual great job Tyll :)
@RochX-711 жыл бұрын
I had all three. Momentum/MDR/UE6k. The momentums were the first one to go due to the supraaural pads. Between the UE6k and MDR's.. the MDRs are farrrrr more comfortable. They both sound extremely good. I feel the UE6ks have more oomph and extension and the low end. And the MDR's present mids and highs just slightly better. I kept the UE6ks because there were times I needed the impact in ANC mode (bass booster)... but lately have found myself not using the ANC. It's based on ur music pref.

@innerfidelity on the wall of fame the ue6000 were removed on account of the Sony mdr-1r & the sennheiser momentum. However it says the Sony & ue6000 had comparable audio with the Sony having better looks & being more ergonomic. Just by sound not taking into account looks or anything else would the Sony mdr-1r be better or worse than the ue6000

This review greatly influenced my purchase of the UE6000. Excellent low priced headphones with marginal noise cancellation.
@InnerFidelity12 жыл бұрын
A bit better sounding than the ED8. (You could call it my favorite Ultrasone.) The UE6000 didn't "squeak" at all. It felt well built.

V-moda crossfades m-100, they're passive noise canceling though but it won't matter because I assume you listen to your music loud.

Thanks Tyler that's an awesome review, you almost had me clicking the buy now button, until I saw the price for Australians. At $299 for UE6000 and $499 for UE9000 I'll give them a miss. If they charged you $100 more would that change your review?

Everyone was afraid that Ultimate Ears was going to go downhill once Logitech bought them out but they've hit a home run with these two headphones and the UE900.

From trustedreviews: "Indeed the natural isolation is so good in the first place, that the active element only serves to highlight the slight hiss it adds to the sound bed. It isn’t noticeable while you’re listening to anything but the quietest music, but does suggest that Logitech didn’t invest too much development dollar into this part of the equation."

Hey Tyll, I really think you do wonderful reviews and I wanted your opinion: should I get the UE6000's or the M-100's? I am under a college student, but I am not a bass head. I enjoy a broad range of music and I would like headphones that sound great, but I am just concerned about the M-100's bass being overwhelming. Thank you!

If price is not an option and you just want a good sounding pair of sealed cans (without all the noise cancelling and bluetooth features) would you go for these or the AKG 550s?
@guatobean286910 жыл бұрын
I just got my UE 6000 on ebay (new & original) for $70. They sound amazing. They are very crisp, clean, clear and well balanced. A very surround sound, if that makes sense. (I've tested: rock,dubstep,punk,acoustic,pop,hiphop,etc.) Compared to the Beats SOLO: Treble, Mids, and Bass (clean punch [kick drum] or vibrating low [808s]) complement each other to provide that 3d-like sound while the Beats provide a bass rumble but drown out the mids and cheapen the highs making it sound like a 2 dimensional headphone. Vocals are crisp for both. Basically: Stereo VS Surround Sound Downside: UE's need a specific device to provide its full "volume" power. My (2012) macbook did not do the job but my ipod (3rd gen) did. I don't know the explanation to this but it's how it is. Very device-specific. buyer beware.

I'd say that between the AKG K550 and this ones it's a matter of taste, but because this ones are almost half the price, yes, they're way, WAAAY better.
@solesurvivor2k11 жыл бұрын
I tried the M-100 for a week before I returned them. Having the volume at high levels is what I am trying to avoid. That is why I am seeking the top sounding noise canceling headphones in the market. I know Bose are at the top of the food chain, But I listen to all types of music. Bose does not give me what I need in all genres. The best ones I have tried so far have been the Polk Audio Ultra Focus 8000, but cables are not great. I am waiting for the BeoPlay H6, but release date is not out yet.

Picked a set of these up new for 65 bux au and i have to agree 100% with you Tyler. The bass boost/NC feature really hides an incredible bang for buck set of cans. You just have to leave it off.... Then amp and wow! I can appreciate the NC feature to help with portable low power devices but for a cheap set of amp'd home cans i really do not think these can be beat for for now.
