Other day,i see a compliation of the former ITV Regionals (i'm from Brazil),and after this know the ITV history,how much ITV change in this last years??

It started off as 17 televison stations in the uk, it then changed to 15 in 1968. Each reigon had its own identitys and idents, and were run by the ITA (Later the IBA in 1972). Every 8 years, they would go through a franchise round. The franchises were either renewed or changed. This all changed in 1991 however. The ITC became a thing, and the 1990 broadcast act changed the whole premise of ITV. Each franchise would be able to buy out each other, and it would be less about contracts, and more about how much money you bidded. Because of this, Granada and Carlton bought out most of the franchises left right and center. In 2002,they both made the decision to get rid of Reigonal idents all together. The 11 of the bought out franchises were all then changed to ITV. The two in charge then merged in 2004. Since then, they bought out Channel Television in 2006,and then UTV in 2015. Now, harlech (along with Westcountry and Central) were bought out and renamed to Carlton *BLANK*.

Please can anyone explain exactly how the 1970's soundtrack was produced? It's always fascinated me, as a studio engineer and electronic musician.

It was known in-house as "The Waterfall". It's been suggested that maybe Geraldo (MD for TWW) or Joseph Cooper (pianist/broadcaster) could be the composer, but no one really seems to know. The conductor, Gavin Sutherland, suggested that the composition features a Hammond Organ, close miked, "with the addition of a handful of brass players as well (possibly a clarinet and a flute in there too)".

The 1971-87 HTV ident is my second favourite of all time & only the ATV 1969-81 ident is better.

@Derek StuartClark: Apparently it was designed around the 405 Line picture on TV's back then, the full Moire effect would only register on those. Yes it is a bit migrainous, I guess that's why they changed it to the famously known "Aerial" Ident later, less likely to give viewers headaches.

I lived in the Granada region in the 80s and sometimes our TV would pick up HTV Wales, loved the ident. The Granada one was boring just appeared on screen and didn’t do anything..
