@logontogaurav 9 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the appreciation!!! 😊 It is great that you are a certified pilot but as far as my understanding flying your own drone with a UIN would still be a problem. The Indian government wants every drone flying in its Air Space to be known to them. So even being a Pilot won't help. The question of whether to be a Pilot or not comes into picture when it is a matter of Drone Class i.e. Nano, Micro etc. If you can get a UIN, that would be best. And yes, the Digital Sky website sometimes creates issues. I too was unable to login a couple of days ago. But keep on trying, it will work. Thanks for your support !!!

Question As a hobbyist if I assemble my own drone in 250-2000gm category, do I have to get UIN for the drone? and can I sell those parts like flight controller, motor etc as a reseller?
@logontogaurav
@logontogaurav 10 ай бұрын
So if you assemble a drone, not only you need to get a UIN, but you need to get a type certificate too. A Type certificate is meant for basically the fitness of your drone. That is, if it is fit to fly. So as you can see, the drones that these big companies and start-ups make, they all need to certify their drones. As far as reselling the parts is concerned, as per rules, any transfer of registered drone/ part is to be informed to DGCA. This is all as per rules.

Hi thanks for such amazing video Q1) so once we get UIN number government can track every details of our flight like we go beyond certain altitude and do we need to take permission before every flight? Q2) Pilot License cost how much minimum? Q3) Do you think this ban can be lift up in future as there is no benefit of it max people rather pay 400$ more to retailers to get DJI drones than to buy a low quality indian drones. Q4) What is drawbacks of not getting gst bill if someone skips it for 18% discount? Thanks for reading.
@logontogaurav
@logontogaurav 10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much 😊 1. No, the government cannot track you (at least not yet). Permission before flying is not required if certain conditions are met as explained in video. Altitude restrictions are there to set the limit on high you can fly which one should follow. I bet you can go higher than that. But remember that DJI keeps a log for your flights, so if those flight logs are checked, you might be in trouble. Soon, perhaps the map on Digital Sky platform will get incorporated with DJI Maps and then crossing the altitude limit won't be possible. 2. I'll check and let you know. 3. Yes, certainly. The ban will be lifted to let the prices drop and to have a healthy competition. As of now, India is in a little nascent stage and that's why India has banned the import to promote local manufacturers. Yes, still somehow, imported drones are available at a higher price and most of us end up buying those, that's the fact. 4. Yes, 18% discount could be a great deal. Drawbacks could be that you have to trust the store guy that you bought from him for any problem later on and he can deny (though they at least turn it on in front of you before selling). Another thing could be the declaration of your assets. Drones are costly. And having something in your home at that cost without a bill could be fishy. But, please check, on some drones, I think it is 5% too. So 5% can be forfeited for everything legal.

And yes, you are right again that Metro Cities are almost completely in Red Zone and that makes sense too considering Airport, Military Areas, Oil Installations, Power Plants, Govt Offices etc in these cities. And that is really a pain in the a** for residents of such cities to go out quite far to find a green zone. You may find a little patch of green zone here and there in such cities to test fly your drone, but for a proper flight, legally you have to venture out far.

Thank you so much for the appreciation 😊. Whether you can take a drone to a foreign country depends on the Drone Rules of that country. At Indian airports, I think there is no option or requirement or declaration that you are carrying a drone or not. There may be though, I am not fully aware. So if you have a UIN then there should not be any problem. As UIN means that DGCA knows about your drone.

So you are unable to register your Air 3 as Air 3? Previously you have registered your Mini 3 Pro and now when you are registering your Air 3, it is saying that you already have UIN for Air 3? Is it the case? There could be a glitch in their system. But a quick tip would be to take a screenshot of the error and screenshot of any complaint/email that you might have written to DGCA or on the Digital Sky platform. Hi Gaurav. Thanks for your very precise explanation of drone registration and permissions. I have never owned or flown a drone but wish to purchase one in India as an add-on to my passion for photography and video. As you rightly mention the only name that crops up is DJI. However, when trying to locate a dealer I found that apart from no bill and warranty, they are very cagey about the entire purchase process... almost as if I am doing something very illegal. My question(s): Is it illegal to own a DJI drone in India. If not, contrary to what you have said on your video, I've been told that even if I do get one on the grey market I will not be able to register it on Digital Sky Platform. Recent news about the launch of Garuda's 'Droni' sounds like a promising alternative. Do you have any information about it? Thanks again, and eager to hear your replies, Warm regards. Dr. Ian D'Souza

The Drone categories, Nano/Micro etc...depends on the overall payload (incl battery/camera etc). So if with a battery it becomes greater than 250 gm, it comes in the Micro category drone. You don't require a Remote Pilot License for Micro drones only if you are flying for non commercial purposes. Batteries to be carried in hand baggage and drone to be carried in Check-in baggage. Please check with your airline to exactly know about these rules. Importing drones is not allowed in India. But you can try to bring it to India as a used/personal drone. If you are Indian, you can get a UIN as that would make it more genuine ( Foreigners cannot register their drones and hence cannot get a UIN and hence cannot fly drones in India). As per rules, an unregistered drone cannot fly in India. But many foreigners have been able to bring and fly without UIN.

Also, if you modify the weight of the drone by mounting say 160 gm GoPro, you are basically changing the category of the drone and technically, you cannot fly that drone as it has been registered in the other category.

Thank you so much for the appreciation 😊. Nano drones do not require permission. Just look for the Green Zones on the Digital Sky platform's interactive map. Also watch out for prohibited areas like Military areas, airports etc.

Hello! Thank you for sharing! Could you please advise if these information apply to foreigners as well? I am from Europe, can I take my drone to India? Can I register to get UIN number beforehand? It's 249g DJI mini 3 pro. In this case do I only need to get UIN number and I'm good to fly? Thank you in advance!

To get a UIN, you have to register on the Digital Sky platform. And unfortunately, it requires Indian IDs like Aadhaar Card and Passport. So a foreigner cannot register and hence cannot obtain a UIN. However many people/foreigners have been able to bring it to India. So you may try your luck too. And if you are successful in bringing it to India, being a Nano Drone, you do not require any further permission as long as you are flying in the Green Zone. You can check the zone in Map available on the Digital Sky website.

Importing of Drones in India is not allowed. You have very high chances that you will be able to bring it and fly in India. But let me clarify, as Importing is banned, you cannot bring it to India, in very strict terms. But many people have, so will you.

I can understand your motive but you must be aware of how law works. People have, in fact, brought the new drone in India. You can attempt to bring too. I have never done this so cannot say with confidence, but the chances that you will succeed are more than 50% (based on the number of people succeeded in my opinion).

hi gaurav! i am planning to buy a drone from abroad and bringing it back to india for personal use. Will there be any issue in customs if I register in the digital sky website to get a UIN while still being abroad. Also do i need a GST receipt to register a drone? drone in question is a dji air 3.

GST bill is not required for registration. As such, importing is not allowed and what you will be doing is basically that. But practically, many people have been able to bring a drone from abroad. So you may try too. Having a UIN may add to your argument that you bought it in India, it is registered and all. Try to bring it in an open box used type style. And you can even say that you owned it in India. These are not guaranteed measures but they may help. All the best!

Yes, if it is a green zone, then you can fly. But remember, there are many Forest Reserves in Andaman. So there might be local restrictions that you must be aware of.
