Logs and Exponentials

In this video I show you how to convert from log form to exponent form, as well as the basic log rules to solve logarithmic equations. We also take a look at solving exponential equations by taking logs, and the tricky straight line graph questions.
After filming this I found I had my camera on the wrong setting - so apologies for the blurriness at times, but hopefully you will still be able to follow it...

I had logarithms in maths in high school (45 years ago) I am 58 and half years old, now I am trying to "revive" this as I must help my daughter that is starting high school as she has a learning disability (global delay and she's a slow learner), she learns but she takes longer than other kids to get the things especially maths, now I must retrieve all I had in my prehistoric times when I was her age and having all this of logarithms, algebra, trigonometric calculations and the rest of this madness called maths and trying to help her with this that is a nightmare but I am getting some maths books and digging into my long past learning again.

For question 4 you can’t have X = (-) value unless you use complex numbers like log -4 base 2 doesn’t exist and the way to add i as the complex number is flawed as it would have to be (2^2)i.

5:36 Isn't 16 to the power of half equals to 8? I have done it on calculator and i got 8, and i'm getting confused how you got 4 8:42 how 81 to the power of three quarter equals to 27, on calculator i am getting 132860.25. And how 64 power half can equal to 8, isnt it 32? if anyone could help me i'd be really grateful

first one- 16 to the power of a half is 4, as you put 16 to the root of the denominator (2) and then square it by the numerator (1). same for the others: 81 to the power of three quarters, the denominator is 4, so the cubed root of 81 is 3. then square that three by the denominator (3) to get 27. 64 to the power of a half: square root of 64 is equal to 8, to the power of 1 is still 8. hope this helps
