Even @4:07 it’s beautiful. I enjoy listening…your voice is like crisp lettuce on a rainy day, when a bit of sun has just broken through clouds…very pleasant.

There is an ugly stage in every medium. I found it in jewelry making and learned to keep going through it to the beautiful. Thanks for this detailed description.

Another lovely inspiring painting Lois. I do enjoy, and take great comfort from, your pep talks. As an ongoing beginner they give me the impetus to carry on. I have had many disasters, some I have chucked out halfway through but others I have persevered to the end and you are right, they do end up looking a lot better than I imagined. So, thank you. Best wishes from Somerset.

Lovely atmospheric painting. My art teacher told me , never use Payne's Grey, too cold. I used Indigo and Burnt Umber instead. More suitable for Australian landscapes.

Beautiful sky. I loved your detailed explanation. I will give it a try. Was that black or Payne’s gray on the tree trunk? I have trouble mixing a dark black. Thank you.

Thanks Nancy, it was dark value Paynes grey for the tree trunk!

I'm not sure that my Arches paper is very fond of salt, but I expect I just didn't blot it in time. I think I could manage this one, though! I certainly know what you mean about the ugly stage - that's true in just about every medium, too.
@LoisDavidsonArt Жыл бұрын
I agree, it’s so important to get through the ugly stage! Leave the salt bout if you aren’t sure, or only sprinkle a little on just before it dries!

Thank you for the video. @9:15sec mark of the video, when you continued after its dried completely I can see the number of whitish prickels ijn the forground was lot more than before. Did you spreaded more salt before you left it to dry?

Lois, could you clear up something for me? At the beginning of this video, at the beginning of your painting the sky, did you put down some water on your paper? You followed by saying this was wet on dry… was that clear water you laid down, then laid down the blue on those wet spots? Thank you! ❣️
@LoisDavidsonArt Жыл бұрын
No water on the sky, just painted the wet paint straight onto dry paper
@yvonnecampbell4906 Жыл бұрын
Really love your style.. a wee question.. while you had your paper taped.. was this also streched.. ie taped wet paper or dry paper please?
@LoisDavidsonArt Жыл бұрын
I don’t pre-stretch my paper, I just tape it on and paint, it dries flat

Lovely painting, but you are not telling us what colors you are using. It is difficult to figure out online whether you are using a variation on Russian blue or Payne's grey for your darks.
@LoisDavidsonArt11 ай бұрын
I’m simply showing you how I painted it. The exact colours are not important, try whatever colours you like, discover what works for you!
@mikejustice1196 Жыл бұрын
I bet those colors have names but I’m not good at guessing the colors since I’m a beginner Nice painting tho.😊
