How To Paint Lois' Simple Watercolour Stormy Seascape, Loose Hake Watercolor Painting Tutorial Demo

/ loisdavidsonart Today I'd like to show you how I paint a loose watercolour seascape depicting storm clouds over the English channel. It is quite a quick and simple painting, but like most things it takes practice.

Materials:
Millford 100% cotton paper, 140lb, 15" x 11"/38cm x 28 cm
Cotman tube paints: paynes grey, yellow ochre, indigo and vandyke brown
Large Chinese 3" hake brush, small hake, 3/4" Cotman flat brush, no. 1 rigger brush

Hi, Lois. I used to paint. Started with WIW technique and truly enjoyed it. My Parents paid for weekly Art Classes in the next town over from us. I learned how to use Acrylics. And discovered that I couldn’t use Oil paints because of the fumes from the turpentine. I used to also take Art classes in college, but eventually, ended up giving up around 2 decades ago. These videos are so wonderful! They make me want to pick up my supplies from where they sit in my closet, and see if I’ve still got “it”. Thanks 🙏 much!
