Lojban is a logical, constructed, human language created by the Logical Language Group which aims to be syntactically unambiguous.
Lojban is proposed as a speakable language for communication between people of different language backgrounds, as a potential means of machine translation, and as a tool to explore the intersection between human language and software.
The name "Lojban" is a compound formed from loj and ban, which are short forms of logji (logic) and bangu (language).
In the next part, let's listen to the beautiful sounds of this language.
If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.
Submit your recordings to otipeps24@gmail.com.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

This sounds really good! For some reason I expected it to not sound very aesthetic, but they did a great job constructing this!

the words stedu, kerlo, and terfi (head, ear, and earth respectively) sound more as /stadu/, /karlo/, and /tarfi/... Or it is because of your slavic (maybe) accent, or it may be a funny Lojban dialect :)

I wondered about that. The grammar books give some allowable variation in how a word is pronounced. There is some move to use alternative writing systems, so as not to have interjection of another language into lojban. As a native English speaker, my natural inclination is to view a written word in an English context. It doesn't always work, as English doesn't have a phonetic system of writing.

Perhaps too much H sound. Why don't they write H sound as "h" letter? However interesting language.

because h is not considered as a consonant gramatically in this language. (mostly used for insertion between vowels.)

That is explained in either the 'complete lojban' grammar book, or the 'incomplete lojban' grammar book. its pretty technical. I wondered the same thing, but there is one thing which is really nice, when doing a search for a small word like this, it makes it easier to find this short words which contain the " ' " in them. Otherwise, one will result in like 9,876 hits on a page, because an english text addressing lojban will have words with smaller subunits that contain 'h'. I am not sure if that was the intention or not, but I think it really helps!

My understanding is that one of the main goals was to construct a language that is as logical and un-ambiguous as possible. I think that means like, whenever you make a statement there should only be one way to understand it, instead of how in natural languages there are often more than one way to interpret a statement based on context, intonation, etc. Logical languages are also supposed to be "based on formal logic," but I don't quite understand what that means. I think it might just mean having words and structures built into the language to easily express logical statements, which might be cumbersome in natural languages. Like, in English there really isn't any basic vocab to distinguish 'inclusive or' and 'exclusive or,' but I would assume in Logban and Lojban each of those concepts have a single basic word.

@@liliumastraleI have studied Philosophy, Formal Logic is a branch from Arithmetics, Mathematics and philosophy that basically is in simple terms like a science in the broad term, or an academic field that has as objective trying to understand reasoning and understanding as things that accomplish a set of rules, those RULES are called in day-to-day language: common sense, but when we try to bring that common sense to a Formal and Academic context and we try to create a system of pure symbols and pure ideas to identify meaning, that's what we call formal logic, basically is what allows you to understand that A equals A, and A does not equal B, because B equals B. When6you read it, it might sound obvious, bit that's the simple part, it grows and grows and grows bigger 😂 take Aristotles Logic and you'll see. Take care!

An interesting academic exercise in machine translation-friendliness but one that can't overcome the ambiguity of existing languages. For example, it can easily differentiate son and sun in English; it can't, however, extend that to metaphor.

It is clearly based on the Indo-European languages..... The whole rhythm and cadence of the language and the phonology resemble a Slavic language, maybe mixed with German and English, and even a little Persian..... You can see that most of the vocabulary is an imitation of words taken from various Indo-European languages.... It sounds like Czech and Portuguese and German and Persian put in a blender.....😂😂 But I can also hear how in some parts it does sow a lot like Classical Arabic and Biblical Hebrew, as well.....

In essence, there wouldn't be any instances where, say, *_"A man changes the clock on the table."_* Is the man on the table or the clock? That's one type of example of syntactic ambiguity.

I said that it sounds somewhat like Portuguese.... well, because it does....! You don't know what your language sounds like to someone who doesn't speak it, do you?? And yes, it sounds VERY similar to this..... It most certainly doesn't sound like Spanish..... Portuguese sounds similar to Russian..... I know that it's a Romance language, very closely related to Spanish and French, and it's not a Slavic language..... but the phonetics of the language, the accent and the pronunciation, when spoken fast, is often mistaken by foreigners for Russian..... Listen to this again, and now you know what the world hears when you speak your language fast......😂😂😂
